Jim Blue For Florida

Hello Jim,

HURRICANE SEASON HEATS UP!

Debby's arrival on the Gulf Coast brought flooding and a reality check. Our campaign is delivering commercials that draw attention to Tallahassee's lack of action on storm insurance premiums. We're also on the road in Arcadia and meeting with teachers as the school year begins.

School's In!

Charlotte County teachers were welcomed back to a new school year at a breakfast Wednesday hosted by the county Chamber of Commerce at the Charlotte Harbor Events Center. We sponsored one of the teachers at this year's event.

Kathryn Pollock (right) and Michell Seekings (second from right), both from Sallie Jones Elementary School were among the teachers attending the breakfast. For more on the event, read this story from the Sun.

Farm Issues in DeSoto County

I discussed the issues facing citrus farmers with Eddie Wertz at a candidates' forum hosted by the Charlotte-DeSoto Farm Bureau. It's clear to me that the Citrus Greening disease crisis needs attention from the state legislature.

Like all residents of District 76, those in the farm industry have been hard hit by storms. And I laid out my plans for relief from high insurance rates.

Primary Ballots

If you vote by mail, you probably have already received your ballot for this month's primary election. If not, contact your county's Supervisor of Elections to get one. Otherwise, early voting begins August 5th. The election is August 20th.

As you are probably aware, I am NOT in the August 20th Primary Election because I am UNOPPOSED in the Democratic Primary. Republicans Vanessa Grant Oliver and Steven Ceracche are in their party's primary election for District 76. The winner of their race will face me in the November 5th General Election. Again, contact your county's Supervisor of Elections for more information.
