DDG Board Meets on October 15, 2018

The members of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Development Group will meet on October 15, 2018, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Tampa, FL. This meeting will follow the annual convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida in Punta Gorda from October 11-13, 2018. Board members who arrive early will have the opportunity to participate in that convention and to speak at area Episcopal churches about the work of the DDG on Sunday, October 14.

Two significant anniversaries will be celebrated during this period: for the Diocese of Southwest Florida, its 50th; and for the Dominican Development Group, its 20th.

September 2018 Compañeros Dominicanos
 
The September 2018 issue of Compañeros Dominicanos, the DDG's bilingual magazine, is now online at this link. 

This 16-page issue features articles by Missioner Sally Thompson, Bishop Moisés Quezada, and Missionary Karen Carroll, plus group photographs of all of the Episcopal mission teams working in the Diocese of the Dominican Republic in June, July, and August 2018.

Espíritu Santo To Be Consecrated on October 20, 2018
 
Another new church in the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic built by mission teams will be consecrated on October 20, 2018. Located in the village of Las Carreras, about 20 miles east of Azua, Iglesia Episcopal Espíritu Santo has been built over the past eight years by mission teams from the Dioceses of the Central Gulf Coast, Georgia and South Carolina, with assistance from the members of the Spring 2018 exploration team sponsored by the Dominican Development Group. Photographs and an article about this consecration event will be in the October Companion News and also in the December Compañeros Dominicanos.
