Barclays Reopens at the Riverfront

Barclays US Consumer Bank division took the wraps off its newly refurbished Riverfront headquarters in Wilmington on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The bank now owns the site on South West Street that it had leased for about 13 years. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony, that also welcomed back employees from a lengthy absence due to the pandemic, U.S. Consumer Bank CEO Denny Nealon made a couple of important announcements.

"Over the next eighteen months we plan to welcome one thousand new team members across the nation including hundreds of new jobs right here in Wilmington," said Nealon, who then went on to announce ongoing support to Delaware State University with which it's had a decade long relationship. "Barclays is donating one million dollars to Delaware State to support its Global Institute for Equity, Inclusion, and Civil Rights, a network designed to create a more equitable and inclusive economy," said Nealon.

Federal Reserve Webinar: Toward an Inclusive Recovery - November 17 - 2 p.m.
Next Wednesday, November 17, the Philadelphia and Atlanta Feds are co-hosting Toward an Inclusive Recovery: Increasing the Housing Security of Vulnerable Renters through Rental Assistance. This webinar will explore research behind rental debt, lessons learned from relief policies and programs, and long-term solutions for increasing rental housing security. Several national experts, including Raphael Bostic, Atlanta Fed President and CEO; Peggy Bailey, Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and Rebecca Yae, Senior Research Analyst with the National Low Income Housing Coalition, will join.

DBA partners with the Federal Reserve on the 2021 Small Business Credit Survey for Delaware small businesses with less than 500 employees
 
Completing the survey increases policymakers’ understanding of small business conditions at both the national and state levels. It is important for policymakers to understand what small business conditions are like in Delaware to make decisions and legislation related to the small business sector.

  • Breaking into Banking 101: Fundamentals of Commercial Banking - ten learning modules, over 5 hours in total content

  • Breaking into Banking 201: Analyzing Repayment Sources - nine modules covers topics including how to analyze income statements, balance sheets, collateral, and risk rating.

Each module includes a video lesson and a multiple-choice self-check. Many of the lessons include exercises/case studies for learners to work through that are related to a sample company outlined in the course’s Reference Guide.
