DARE Program Completers Ceremony

On Monday, May 22, 2023, 5th Graders at RES that participated in the DARE Program, administered by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, received their medals and completers certificate for completion of the D.A.R.E. Program. The program works to instill a strong foundation of decision-making skills that they apply to real-life situations about the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and inhalants. Through the weeks-long program, the students are actively engaged as they learn how to cope with the pressures associated with adolescence.

REMINDER: Registration will be 100% In-Person

Please be reminded that registration for the 2023-2024 school year will be conducted 100% in person. EVERY STUDENT, NEW AND RETURNING, MUST REGISTER. If your child is not registered by the first day of school, Monday, July 31, 2023, they will not be permitted to enter campus. Registrations after the first day of school will be conducted at an off-site location, as outlined in the attached document. In-person registration is available on both Ridgeland and Hardeeville Campuses on the dates listed below.

Valedictorians & Salutatorians

Congratulations to the Class of 2023 from Hardeeville Junior & Senior High School and Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence. Class of 2023 scholars should feel proud of their academic achievements. Our most notable academic achievers were recognized and honored at their respective graduation ceremonies. 


Please join us in recognizing each school's top two graduates for the class of 2023. These scholars earned and maintained the highest GPAs of their class throughout their high school careers.

Hardeeville Junior & Senior High School

Valedictorian - Mikayla Ferguson

Mikayla Ferguson, the HJSHS valedictorian, is a resident of Hardeeville and is the daughter of Joseph and Tameika Ferguson. Mikayla will attend Clemson University, where she plans to major in Engineering. 


*South Carolina Life Scholarship and numerous local scholarships. 


*Earned Associate's Degree from Technical College of the Lowcountry

Salutatorian - Timia Miller

Timia Miller, the HJSHS salutatorian, is a resident of the Purrysburg community and is the daughter of Jossett Miller. Timia plans to pursue her education at Clark-Atlanta University and major in Pre-Med.


*South Carolina Life Scholarship and numerous local scholarships.

 

*Earned Associate's Degree from Technical College of the Lowcountry

Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence

Valedictorian - Faith Macherione

Ingrid Cabrera is a first-generation Mexican immigrant. She has completed dual enrollment courses, is a member of the BETA Club, and completed the Health Science program in the CATE center. Her future includes attending Georgia Southern University where she plans to major in nursing. Her life's motto is, "Be happy with what you have while working for what you want."

Salutatorian - Ingrid Hernandez

Faith Macherione is the daughter of Mike and Barbara Macherione of Savannah, Georgia. She has earned a degree in science and a degree in art from the Technical College of the Low Country (TCL). She is also a Certified Nursing Assistant and earned her certification at JC CATE. In the fall, she will be attending the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Her intended major is nursing; with a career goal of becoming a registered nurse in an emergency or trauma center. Her life's motto is: "She believed she could, so she did.

JCSD Leaders Featured in '23 Summer Conferences

Dr. Rechel Anderson, Superintendent



Dr. Anderson has been selected to present at the 31st Annual Model Schools Conference to be held at the Marriott World Center, Orlando, FL, from June 25- June 28, 2023.

Renata Johnson-Green, Principal of Ridgeland Elementary School


Principal Green will lead a panel at the New Principals' Summit. She will share her knowledge of what it takes to be an effective principal with a group of new principals.

Tenika Evans, District Math Recovery Specialist


Mrs. Evans is presenting at the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA) Summer Conference. Her presentation, entitled One Size DOESN'T Fit All, teaches educators how she utilized data to create a report that helps customize professional development for teachers that have differing needs.
