Robin Vann, MD
Robin R. Vann, M.D. is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Duke Eye Center for the past 25 years. He is an active clinician, surgeon, and educator at Duke School of Medicine. Dr. Vann serves as the Medical Director of the Duke Eye Center Arringdon Ophthalmology Clinic and as the Physician Champion of EPIC EMR systems for the department. He has also served as the Comprehensive Division Chief from 2001-2017 and the IT Medical Director from 2009-2017. He is currently a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons IOL Calculation Subcommittee for the Cataract Clinical Committee.
Dr. Vann specializes in refractive cataract surgery with a special interest in biometry, calculations, and improving surgical refractive outcomes. He has studied a variety of ophthalmic topics including alternative treatments to conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia to analyzing the variability of a landmark based keratometry to a standard automated keratometry. He has given over 100 talks and presentations and has published several articles in peer-refereed and non- refereed journals. He has written 3 book chapters and published numerous abstracts for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons annual meetings and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology annual meetings.
Dr. Vann received his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University in 1990. He received his Medical Degree from Bowman Gray Wake Forest University in 1994. After internship at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, he completed residency training in ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 1998. In 2005 he received the Golden Globe Teaching Award for Outstanding Teaching at the Duke Eye Center. He is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an Alpha Omega Alpha Society member. He is listedamong America’s Best Doctors since 2011-present.

Dues for the DAO this year are $375.00 The DAO year runs August 2023-July 20243. Only active members of the DAO with a current membership dues payment will be allowed to attend DAO functions. This includes all virtual and in-person meetings. As always, membership is free for resident physicians.
