December 2, 2023

DACC Students and Families,

During this busy time of year, we want to pause for a moment and let you know how proud we are of our DACC students. The end of the semester can be stressful, but what we have seen from our students is perseverance, creativity, and collaboration. Last week, many of our students took a courageous step to leave the familiarity of school and spend their day shadowing an industry professional. These types of experiences help our students become more confident in the path they are creating for their future and provide more clarity on how they can achieve their dreams.

We're grateful to the business partners who hosted our students and we're looking forward to providing more college and career exploration opportunities.

SkillsUSA

On November 9th and 10th, 18 students attended the SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Conference.

Students participated in break-out sessions on budgeting, community service, how to run a chapter, and more. We had two candidates running for Regional Officer positions, and both spoke in front of the South Central SkillsUSA Ohio Delegate Assembly. In addition, we had five students act as voting delegates to try to get our candidates elected.

We are proud to announce that senior student Ethan D'Ambrosia from Engineering-Robotics, Automation, and Design was elected as one of seven Regional Officers, out of twenty-four candidates. Ethan will serve this school year and will be involved with helping to plan the Regional Competition that will be held at DACC on March 1st.

Thank you, voting delegates and officers for attending, and congratulations to Ethan!! Pictured is Ethan D'Ambrosia with Zoey SanFillipo, one of the state officers for SkillsUSA Ohio.

Attendance

You can easily report an absence using our online Report an Absence form found on the main menu of the DACC App or on the Attendance page of our website.

We work with each home school to align our calendar as closely as possible to each school. Please take a moment to compare the DACC district calendar with your home school's calendar. If your home school has a scheduled day off listed in their calendar, but DACC is still in session, your student is still required to attend DACC. However, if your student is going to be absent, please notify the attendance office.

Illness Procedure

At the Delaware Area Career Center, we prioritize the well-being and academic success of our students. If a student feels unwell after they have already arrived on campus, we encourage them to visit the clinic, where our healthcare professional will provide care and support. In the event that a student needs to go home, we will personally contact a parent or guardian to arrange this. The student will then be able to leave directly from the clinic as soon as their ride arrives, streamlining the process for everyone.

We kindly ask that students refrain from directly contacting parents to pick them up during school hours. This approach ensures minimal disruption to classes and allows our teachers to maintain an effective learning environment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this collaborative effort to support our students' health and education.
