With this newsletter we would like to keep you informed about the latest news, deadlines and interesting upcoming events in Australia, such as the 'Brisbane German Week 2017' from 1 - 15 October, where DAAD Australia will hold information sessions on study in Germany. We are also excited to announce a new DAAD funding program on Climate, Energy and Earth System Research, which is now open for application.

German Language Day
DAAD Australia had a fantastic time at German Language Day hosted by Deutschstunde in Croydon! What a great opportunity to connect and learn about the variety of German Language Providers, such as Deutschstunde, Goethe-Institut, Deutsche Kirche Sydney, German International School Sydney, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Deutschsprachige Katholische Kirchengemeinde Sydney, German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Fröbel, Univerity of Technology Sydney, University of Sydney and UNSW.

From 1 – 15 October Brisbane will showcase its educational, scientific, economic, political and cultural connections to Germany in cooperation with schools, universities, businesses and numerous other organisations.

CALLS FOR APPLICATION
New DAAD Funding Program on Climate Change
Call for Applications Now Open: Franco-German Fellowship Program on Climate, Energy and Earth System Research

Under the French "Make our planet great again" initiative, Germany and France are inviting researchers from all over the world to cooperate with German and French partners to advance sustainability research in the following fields:
 
1. Research on climate change
2. Research for the energy transition
3. Research to understand the Earth system
 
Fellows of the programme will be given the opportunity to set up their own research group at a German university or research institution for a period of four years. Germany and France will organize joint networking activities for the fellows with other international researchers in their disciplines. The programme intends to establish longterm cooperation schemes and sustainable networks. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research
(BMBF), the programme is coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Engineering Winter Schools 2018
In the beginning of next year, the following Engineering Winter Schools will be offered:
 

Our Winter Schools are designed for undergraduate students of mechanical engineering or related subject areas, who want to experience academic excellence and student life at the highly renowned RWTH Aachen University in Germany.

Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
The Hessen International Winter University Programme at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is a short-term program for students interested either in International Marketing or Mechanical Engineering.

Join us Dec 29, 2017 – Jan 19, 2018 for an academic seminar, a German language course, a New Year’s celebration in Munich, exploring the German culture and making new friends.

Interested students can choose from around 50 study programs in Magdeburg and Stendal.
