As part of the D.C. Safe Babies Safe Moms initiative, researchers from MedStar Health, GUMC and the McCourt School of Public Policy are working to understand the lived experiences of mothers to help prevent future patient safety events.
​​The Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) has renewed its designation of Georgetown’s Huntington’s Disease Care, Education and Research Center as an HDSA Center of Excellence. The center is a collaboration between Georgetown University Medical Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, with generous support from the Griffin Foundation.
Every member of our community - faculty, staff and students - has a role to play in making our university an accessible, inclusive community. The new “Accessibility at Georgetown” website brings together university resources on physical, digital and event accessibility, as well as an overview of key policies, processes and community opportunities.

Save the Date: Dromerick Memorial Lecture - March 28
The Alexander W. Dromerick, MD, Memorial Lecture will be held March 28 at 12:00 p.m. at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital. Sean Savitz, MD, the Frank M. Yatsu, MD, Chair in Neurology and director of the Institute for Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease at UT Health Houston, will give a lecture titled “The Dawn of a New Therapeutic Era in Stroke Recovery." Submit Your Poetry for the Eighth Annual (Virtual) Poetry Cafe

Original poems on the theme of “Vibrant Words: Giving Voice to Community” are being accepted for the Eighth Annual (Virtual) Poetry Cafe. Contributors will be invited to read at the April 20 poetry cafe. Their work will also be featured in the 2024 issue of “Lombardi Voices.” Send poems to Abigail Perelman by March 17. The Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS) is pleased to announce the launch of their 2023-2024 GHUCCTS Pilot Awards application cycle. Applications are due March 20.
The Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS) Translational Biomedical Science TL1 (TBS/TL1) Program is offering five Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) sessions via Zoom. The series will provide face-to-face training for predoctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and early career investigators in the responsible conduct of research to promote ethical, rigorous and reproducible science.
The 2023-2024 NIH TL1 Translational Biomedical Science (TBS) Training Program, funded by the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS), is accepting applications. Applicants must be predoctoral students who have completed their qualifying exams in PhD programs at Georgetown or Howard, or postdoctoral fellows with primary appointments at Georgetown, Howard, a MedStar institution or the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Apply by May 1.
