EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR GENE SEROKA

PRESENTS RECORD JULY CARGO VOLUME, DISCUSSES SUPPLY CHAIN TRENDS WITH S&P GLOBAL ECONOMIST PAUL BINGHAM

The Port of LA's July 2024 loaded imports landed at 501,281 TEUs, a 38% spike compared to the previous year. Loaded exports came in at 114,889 TEUs, an increase of 4% compared to last year. It was the 14th consecutive month of year-over-year export gains in Los Angeles.


Paul Bingham, an S&P Global Intelligence economist and data analyst, joined the Port’s media briefing. Bingham discussed a variety of issues impacting the supply chain, including East Coast dockworker negotiations, Red Sea cargo diversions and the possibility of additional tariffs.

It’s Los Angeles’ turn for the torch. Mayor Karen Bass accepted the Olympic flag at the Paris closing ceremony Sunday, before handing it off to a key representative of LA’s local business — Tom Cruise — who in a pre-recorded trek via motorcycle, plane and parachute kicked off the countdown to 2028.

PORT, CALTRANS CONTINUE WORK ON SR 47 INTERCHANGE PROJECT

As work continues on the Port of Los Angeles and Caltrans SR 47 Interchange Project, lane reductions and ramp closures will occur on the SR 47 and I-110 in San Pedro. Suggested alternate freeway access ramps are at Gaffey Street in San Pedro and John S. Gibson Boulevard in Wilmington.
