NAM to Senate: Administration March-in Proposal Undermines IP, Innovation


The proposal would allow the federal government to “march in” and seize manufacturers’ patent rights if an innovation was developed in any part with federal dollars. Read more by the National Association of Manufacturers on nam.org.


Editor's note: A coalition of state and regional manufacturing associations is opposing this proposal. GLGA members are encouraged to add your voice to a collective letter opposing the "march-in" guidance. The deadline to add your signature is Friday, June 7.

Business Groups File Lawsuit to Block DOL’s Raised Salary Thresholds for White Collar Overtime Exemptions


The lawsuit is the first legal challenge to the Department of Labor’s new rule raising the earnings thresholds for the executive, administrative, or professional and highly-compensated employee exemptions to the FLSA’s overtime requirements by as much as 50 and 40 percent respectively. Proposed Ban on Carbon Black Raises Red Flags for New York State Printers


Printers and packaging manufacturers in New York State are reacting with alarm to proposed legislation that would effectively deprive them of one of their most essential raw materials: black ink. Read more on WhatTheyThink.com.

OSHA Publishes Update to Hazard Communication Standard


Employers using products covered under the standard must update their hazcom programs, labeling and employee training by July 20, 2026, or January 19, 2028, depending on substances or mixtures. Read more by Safety+Health Magazine.

Founded in 1886, GLGA celebrated its 135 year anniversary in 2021 and continues to be the oldest print trade association in North America.
