Curley Family Weekly Bulletin

Week of March 4-10, 2024

See below to find out what is happening at Curley!

From the President

It was a good celebration of “Countdown to Commencement" on February 26th as seniors and their parents recognized and celebrated that the final stretch of high school is upon the Class of 2024. Beginning their high school years during the Covid-19 pandemic, these young men nonetheless rallied as a class and have built those Brotherhood bonds. I echo the thanks extended to the Curley staff and parents who did so much for this event for the Class of 2024, both students and their parents. Four years go by quickly, so make the most of your son’s high school years, just as you encourage him to do.

From the Principal

Only three weeks remain in the third quarter of the school year. The last day of the quarter is scheduled for March 22nd. Please continue to remind your son to meet with his teachers when he is in need. Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for March 14th and a sign up link will be distributed by email next week.

Please pay careful attention to the schedule change for this month. School is in session on March 8th. Details are below in the bulletin.

I am grateful to all of our parent volunteers who have supported major events at Curley recently including the Class of 2028 Welcome Night and the Countdown to Commencement. We cannot provide these special events without the support of the many parents who lend a hand.

Calendar Reminder

This is a reminder of a school calendar change to the class schedule for the month of March.

March 8, 2024, is now a school day with classes for all students. So that we do not have to adjust the school schedule days any further, Friday, March 8th will follow the D3 class schedule.

Blackfriars' Theatre News

We are now just days away from celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical, South Pacific, and Blackfriars' Theatre is in need of additional help to make our weekend successful. We need assistance from both students and parents for the Dinner Theatre on Saturday night to help our catering team serve the food and clean-up afterwards. Volunteers need to arrive no later than 4:30 pm to help, and all students and parents are fed the same dinner as our guests. We also need parent help at the concession stand at each performance, especially during the intermission break. We need some Curley students to work as ushers at the auditorium doors to collect tickets and hand out programs, and we still are in very desperate need of Curley students to work on the stage crew. Information was sent out to our entire Curley community via emails, and the students have been asked to help out through school announcements. If you and/or your son can help out any of these ways, please go HERE to sign up to volunteer. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Kathy Shucker at kschucker@archbishopcurley.org especially about ushers and stage crew.

The performances are Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, at 7:30 pm, and then on Sunday afternoon, March 17, at 2:00 pm. Tickets for the Dinner Theatre & show on Saturday, March 16 are still available HERE. Tickets are $45 each or tables of eight are available for $325. Doors open at 5:00 pm for a social hour of hors 'devours and open bar with your sit-down dinner being served at 6:00 pm. You have reserved seating in the theatre and then come back to the SDR for special desserts at intermission. Don't delay in ordering your Dinner Theatre tickets. The tickets are on sale through Saturday, March 9, but we may need to shut down orders sooner if we reach a sell out.

For those who only wish to attend the show that weekend, our general admission tickets are on sale HERE. All advance sale tickets are $10 and are available for purchase up until 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 14. The weekend of the show the tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. A reminder that all Curley students have FREE admission to the show by showing their school ID card as they enter the theatre. Make your plans now to attend this special celebration of one of Broadway's greatest musicals!

We are three weeks away from the end of the third quarter. Please remind your son(s) to check Plus Portals on a regular basis and to see his teacher(s) if he has questions. I also encourage him to see his teachers for extra support and help if he is struggling in any of his courses. My door is always open if he ever needs anything. The 2024-2025 course registration is underway. Please talk to your son about the classes he will be taking.

Mrs. Berrigan's feedback was very helpful and clear in explaining what could be improved. I got plenty of useful personal feedback throughout my time there." "This was an amazing 1-day camp that saved me days of brainstorming, drafting, and revising. The professional help was very useful! I also loved the help with the Common App."
