Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival


Tickets are now on sale for the 2024 Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival, which is running from Saturday 17 August to Sunday 25 August.


Join us at the Auburn Botanic Gardens to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th birthday and experience a slice of Japan.


Enjoy the Japanese Food Village, cultural performances, entertainment, The Cherry Trail, the Cherry Blossom Bar, The Mt Fuji Torii Gate, The Pavilion and the Rainforest and Billabong area.

Phillips Park Upgrade


Exciting news!


Phillips Park in Lidcombe has been transformed with a new and improved playspace.


The revitalised park now includes fresh play equipment, a super cool Learn to ride loop, a scenic walking loop and improved social spaces for hangouts and community fun.

Your Rates at Work - Road Improvement Projects


Council has completed road works along Oakleigh Avenue in South Granville, Old Prospect Road and Beresford Road in Greystanes and Church Avenue in Westmead which included a traffic calming device, installation of a new roundabout and new road asphalt laid.

Youth Hub

Council's Youth Hub runs on the first and third Thursday of the month to help empower and support youth in Cumberland at Merrylands Library from 2.30pm to 5pm.


The hub is a go-to destination for young people aged 12-25, providing important resources and assistance with health, employment, counselling, housing, educational services and more.

Moon Festival


Save the date! 


Celebrate 2024 Moon Festival with Cumberland City Council on Saturday 21 September from 5pm to 9pm at Lidcombe Town Centre!


Enjoy traditional and contemporary music and entertainment, dance and contemporary art, including temporary public art, workshops and installations.



There will also be a variety of fusion-food inspired by Asian hawker style markets and traditional mooncakes.

Battery Safety

Don’t let your battery waste spark danger!

 

Throwing away batteries in your bin is a fire risk and harmful to both people and the environment.

 

Cumberland City Council is on a mission to keep our community safe and environmentally friendly.

 

Book a service with the Mobile Community Recycling Service (MCRS) here to responsibly dispose of your battery waste to prevent hazardous fires during waste collection and processing.

Cumberland's Safe Kids Day


Round up your kids and head out to Cumberland's Safe Kids Day on Tuesday 3 September during National Child Protection Week.


Time: 10am - 1pm

Location: Auburn Centre for Community, 44A Macquarie Road, Auburn


This free fun day will feature information about body safety and emotional literacy for young children (aged 3 to 5), plus a range of family activities and meet and greets from local services.


This event is being hosted by Cumberland City Council and Integrated Violence Prevention and Response Service (IVPRS).

York Street Park, Berala - New Exeloo Toilet

Council is seeking feedback on the new public amenities in York Street Park, Berala prior to commencing the planning and approvals process for this project. The new amenities will be automated toilets, focusing on access, safety and serviceability. These will be consistent with other amenities within the Cumberland local area. These toilets comply with disability access requirements, are self-cleansing, highly durable and reduce safety and crime risks.

Granville Park Playspace Upgrade

Council wants your feedback on the draft concept plan for the upgrade of the existing playspace and water playground at Granville Park. The new concept includes a range of different play zones and types including: water play, adventure play, swings, nature play, scooter and riding. New amenities include BBQs, picnic shelters and settings, new amenities block and showers. The concept will deliver a wider range of play activities for year-round fun.

The amenities will be located in a convenient location within Jack and Jill Reserve, providing easy and equitable access to high-use areas such as the playground.

25 South Parade, Auburn - Draft Voluntary Planning Agreement 

Council invites you to have your say on a draft Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) for the land at 25 South Parade, Auburn. The draft VPA is related to a proponent-initiated Planning Proposal (PP2022/0004) which seeks to amend Schedule 1 of Cumberland Local Environmental 2021 to permit office premises and a medical centre as additional permitted uses (APUs) at 25 South Parade, Auburn. It is intended that the amendment will permit future development of the site to facilitate medical centre and office uses. The Planning Proposal also seeks to introduce a maximum building height of 11m on the site for these uses.

7 Hyland Road, Greystanes - Proposed Granting of Carparking Licence and Lease Agreement

Council is seeking community feedback on the proposed Car Parking Licence Agreement and Lease Agreement for 7 Hyland Road, Greystanes. The proposed Carparking Licence Agreement is for the parking of motor vehicles in accordance with any parking control signage at the Premises. The proposed Lease consists of four consecutive 5-year agreements for a total term of up to twenty (20) years for the purpose of building and operating the Cultural and Education Centre, and ancillary activities.

Council values the opinions and suggestions of the community, and appreciate your input on the draft Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) for land at 4-4A Terminal Place, 5 and 7 McLeod Road, Merrylands. During this community consultation period, residents are encouraged to submit their comments on the draft proposal in writing.
