Message from the Mayor

The Good Exhibition

The Good Exhibition launched at the Granville Centre Art Gallery as part of a series of after-hours art and cultural programs called ‘Granville Nights’. It features family-friendly art workshops and is curated by Anna Louise Richardson. ‘The Good’ is a solo exhibition that explores ideas of intergenerational exchange, parenthood and identity, pointing to the necessary act of radical optimism needed to seek goodness in all things. The exhibition features live music, art workshops, book sales, food and more. Granville Nights will return on Friday 19th January and Friday 2nd February 2024. For more information, visit www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/event/granville-nights

This initiative is proudly supported by the NSW Government through the Culture Up Late Western Sydney program.

Annual SASS Network Breakfast

Thank you to Granville South Creative and Performing Arts High School for inviting me to your annual School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) networking breakfast at The Holroyd Centre. The event brought together 16 schools from across a number of networks to celebrate the hard work of staff who are the backbone of the school community. It was great to hear about the achievements you have made this year and I look forward to working with you all in 2024.

Merry Christmas from Cumberland Council

Christmas is around the corner, and it has been exciting to see all the festive decorations and community events that have been taking place in Cumberland. Christmas is the time where millions of people around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus, which happened more than 2,000 years ago in a town called Bethlehem. That birth continues to signify a promise of harmony and peace that resonates for all of us. Regardless of our faith or beliefs we can all share in the spirit of Christmas, knowing that in Cumberland there is a place for everyone, where we celebrate both our shared culture and the wealth we gain through our diversity. May the New Year be filled with cherished moments with your loved ones, new beginnings, prosperity and happiness. Stay safe over the holidays and I look forward to seeing you all in 2024.

Drivers are being urged to think smart, stay safe and slow down while driving in and around Cumberland, especially during the festive season.

If you are travelling just a couple of kilometres per hour over the speed limit, the risk of injuring someone increases dramatically.

We all need to do our part to keep motorists and pedestrians safe.
