A drive-through FFA is a wonderful way to serve people in our community! Please email Kanitta Rentfrow if you are able to volunteer from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on November 19. Due to the pandemic, we are encouraging those at risk to refrain from volunteering at this time.
All volunteers must wear gloves and a mask at all times, a yellow vest, and need to dress appropriately for being outdoors during this time. You will need to bring a mask with you. Gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided.

SPARK Lesson: "Sheep and Goats" |
Jesus told the disciples that they were like sheep when they cared for each other. Jesus wanted them to be like sheep, because he was their shepherd, just like Jesus is OUR shepherd! A shepherd is a person who takes care of the sheep. Jesus takes care of and loves all of us, and he calls each of us to take care of and love each other, too.

Hi Nursery Buddies and Parents!
This week we are going to learn about how being obedient is a part of being a good steward. Here is a little lesson I had in obedience and the blessings that come from listening to God.
About seven years I ago, I was working kind of far away from my home. After praying about it, I felt God was placing it on my heart to leave that job and find one closer to home. I had some money saved up and so, I listened. Then, a son of a friend got hurt and had to go to the hospital. She was in a tight spot and didn’t know how she would pay the doctor's bill. I felt in my heart that God was telling me to give her all the money I had saved. Honestly, I tried to bargain. Well, maybe if I only give her most of it, that would be enough to satisfy what God is asking me to do. That didn’t feel like what God had placed in my heart. I sent the money to her in the mail so she would be surprised and not know it was from me. No, sending cash in the mail is never the smart choice, but that is what I felt God was telling me to do.
Two days later, I walked into a building and was offered a job on the spot! God provided fully and more than I expected. It took a long time to hear anything from this friend about receiving the money. Then, she called me and said this, “I know it was you. I wanted to say thank you and tell you what happened to your envelope.” It had gotten dropped by the mail carrier as it was snowing. The envelope got buried in the snow and wrecked a little. At some point it had warmed up, melted and a neighbor found it. He didn’t know who my friend was, and the apartment number got smudged. This neighbor then went to the office of the apartment building to track her down, eventually it got to her at a very precise moment for her in her life.
Not only did listening to God help my friend financially, but God used my obedience to lead another stranger to choose to do a good thing, which effects his spirit. It also helped my friend feel cared for in a way that gave her hope in people around her, which was something she was struggling with at the time. So instead of my friend just receiving the money, God used my act to affect her heart and the heart of a stranger. He took care of all of us involved much more then we could have imagined.
When we pray and read the Bible and use those tools to follow Jesus in obedience, our blessings are magnified. It might not be the easiest and at times maybe a little scary. As good stewards, we trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and we serve others first.
Memory Verse: 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

I have always loved this hymn. It so meaningful around Thanksgiving time, and its German origin makes it feel very Lutheran. It is our Confessional Hymn for Sunday and in 2020 it feels especially appropriate, take a listen.
The original German text was written in 1636 by Martin Rinkhart (1588-1649), a Lutheran minister. We sing it in a standard English translation, a story for another Music Notes. Rinkhart came to Eilenburg, Saxony at the beginning of the Thirty Years' War. The walled, free city was a refuge for political and military fugitives, but overcrowding caused pandemics and famines. In 1637, at the height of one plague, Rinkhart performed more than 4000 funerals, including one for his wife. He was the only pastor in town still alive!
I don’t tell you this to make you depressed, but to note that we too are in a horrible time, with Covid-19 spreading out of control. Maybe it’s not as bad as Germany in 1636. We know, in wearing masks and keeping our distance, how to help contain its spread; the people of Eilenberg did not. We know what a vaccine is, and that one is coming; the people of Eilenberg did not. But never in my lifetime have we had to deal with a pandemic. So, we will sing these words on Sunday, together, keeping our distance, with new understanding of their meaning and a renewed empathy for others.

Poinsettia plants are available for purchase in memory or honor of loved ones and will be used to decorate the sanctuary for Christmas Eve worship. Your dedication will be included in the worship outline.
To order, fill out this form and mail it with payment to the church office. Both items must arrive no later than Wednesday, December 9. Poinsettias are $10 each.
Directions for picking up your poinsettia will be communicated at a later date. If you have any questions, contact Kellie in the church office.

Crown of Glory has contracted with Kusske Construction Company to complete Phase One of our parking lot remodel, which included new concrete curbs for the west entrances, the first layer of asphalt paving for the drive lane at the preschool entrance and patching of the existing main parking lot.
Bob Chinnock, our volunteer building and grounds coordinator, will be the lead manager on the parking lot project. Phase One of the parking lot project has been fully funded by the Pulte Land Swap Fund. We look forward to full completion of Phase One in the spring, which will include a second layer of asphalt paving for the drive lane.
