Food Shelf
Crown of Glory Kitchen Pantry Food Donated
A member of the Crown of Glory Kitchen Team cleared out the pantry of food and donated 347 pounds of food to the Chaska Bountiful Basket Food Shelf!

Food donations were also given to “His House”, a local homeless outreach ministry. We give thanks to Jeni Stifter for organizing and distributing these donations!
Notes from Tom Paulson
Imagine living in Vienna in 1827, and attending the first performance of Beethoven’s 9 th Symphony. Beethoven is the greatest composer, past or present; a celebrity on par with Tom Cruise and Lady Gaga today, and his amazing hymn to humanity, Ode to Joy, does NOT yet exist. You are about to hear its first ever performance. Today is quite different, the entire western world knows, sings, and plays the Ode to Joy. Google it and you get 26 million results.

I fell in love with this text below, singing it at a previous church. The link is to a performance at a huge congregation in Lincoln, NE.

Christ is risen shout Hosanna, celebrate this day of days.
Christ is risen hush in wonder, All creation is amazed.
In the desert all-surrounding, See a spreading tree has grown.
Healing leaves of grace abounding, Bring a taste of love unknown.

Christ is risen raise your spirits, From the caverns of despair.
Walk with gladness in the morning, See what love can do and dare.
Drink the wine of resurrection, Not a servant but a friend.
Jesus is our strong companion, Joy and peace shall never end.

Christ is risen earth and heaven, Nevermore shall be the same.
Break the bread of new creation, Where the world is still in pain.
Tell its grim demonic chorus, “Christ is risen, get you gone!”
God the First and Last is with us, Sing Hosanna everyone.
(CCLI Song # 5787887)

Imagine my excitement when I realized this text was in our ELW, #383! Imagine my dismay when I realized it was a totally different tune. Pity the guy who wrote it. How do you compete with Beethoven? The text is so joyful and full of good news, you can see why I prefer Beethoven’s tune. When were back together, that day will be a resurrection and we will sing this song together.

Living Liturgy: Part 5
In our gospel reading for this week, some friends were walking together sharing their troubles. As Jesus walked them, their hearts were warmed by his presence. This Easter experience is possible for us today as well. Take a walk, share your troubles and be open to ways Jesus may show up. Mary Oliver says that prayer for her is noticing. What do you notice on your walk? Another poet spent a year looking for delight in each day and found it! Blessings to you as you walk with Jesus each day!
SPARK News
SPARK lesson this week is The Road to Emmaus from Luke 24:13-35. Friends walking together in grief encounter Jesus and rejoice as they discover God is with them!
Connect
Connect News
Connect lesson this week is on The Body of Christ! The pandemic is teaching us new ways of understanding this ancient teaching from the apostle Paul about the church. The church is like a body; each part is connected to one another. In our homes and communities our health and well-being are interconnected. When one part suffers the whole body suffers! We are in this together, and God is with us through it all!

Beacon Housing Interfaith Collaborative
Here are a couple ways you can support families experiencing homelessness in Scott and Carver county through Beacon’s Families Moving Forward program:
  • Health and hygiene supplies for families: We’re running low on things like diapers and personal care items. We’ve created a registry so that those who are able to can purchase items that will be delivered to our program center. Please share this link with others who might be interested.
  • Masks: For sewers able to make cloth masks, our shelter guests, staff and residents need them. The CDC has information about masks and a couple tutorials for making them. Masks can be shipped to or dropped off at our program centers on Mondays and Wednesdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
