A Word from the Youth Pastor

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

- 1 Timothy 4:12

Our students just returned from the Revive Winter Retreat this weekend and WOW, WHAT A WEEKEND! The Lord worked in the hearts of our students and inspired them to come back and be game-changers in their communities.

We discussed the importance of spiritual gifts and how God has blessed all believers with a gift that can be used to further His kingdom. Students felt the presence of God this weekend through worship, speakers and small groups. The Lord spoke truth into our students' hearts with several making the decision to follow Jesus!

Overall, it was a fantastic, spirit-filled weekend. We are so excited to watch our students come back and use their gifts to further the Kingdom of heaven! You can check out pictures from this weekend on our social media sites by clicking here.

Tonight at FMC

Our Wednesday Night activities return tonight! However, YOUTH GROUP (6th-12th grade) will be meeting at Cedar Hill Roller Rink (details below).

Dinner is $8 per person - 18 and under eat free. Cash or a check may be placed in the box at the front of the serving line. Venmo is also available. Tonight's meal is Jimmy John's Boxed Lunches!

Youth Group Meets Off Campus

TONIGHT, February 21

YOUTH will not be meeting at the church tonight, so please have students come straight to the roller rink! We will be providing pizza for students; however, the venue has asked that we purchase any drinks through their concessions. So please bring money for drinks that aren't water. Do not hesitate to email Josh if you have any questions!

Discover Grace this Sunday!

This month we are DISCOVERING where we belong using the story of Jesus in the Temple in Luke 2:41-52. Jesus knew that just as He had been placed into a family and community here on earth, He belonged to Father God. We will have a tasting table, make scrolls and have some special guests to teach us new skills! Join us and invite your friends!

Discover Grace is a worship experience focused on opening our hearts and minds to discovering God's grace together. This is a new way of being church particularly for families, but open and welcoming for everyone. With Discover Grace, we are creating a community of all ages, centered on Christ, showing Christian hospitality--giving people a chance to express their creativity, to sit down together and eat a meal, and to have fun in the church!

Next Wednesday

Next Wednesday, February 28, the Maui mission team will be hosting a fundraiser during mealtime from 5:30-6:15 PM! All proceeds and donations from the night will go towards our Maui Mission Team. Students will be helping in the kitchen, serving, and more. Come support our youth and our mission team as they try to raise money for their trip this summer!

Community Outreach

Serve at Praise Hunt in the Park

Praise Hunt in the Park is our annual community outreach Easter celebration and egg hunt at Kimmel Park. The purpose of the event is to reach those we may not reach if it were held on our campus! Praise Hunt includes music, fun stations that share the gospel, and over 10,000 candy filled eggs! It is a unique opportunity to bless our community; but to bless the families, we need our church to serve. We have about 50 spots that are needed. Click here to sign up!!  Another way for you to serve is that you can bring candy for the eggs. Please, no chocolate or peanuts. If you have questions, please click here to email Keelee Allen. Thank you!

Springtime Cookie Class

Join us for springtime cookie class Wednesday, March 13! Participants will receive supplies and detailed instructions on how to decorate your sugar cookies. The cookie artist will teach decorating techniques as well as secrets of how to make them at home. Each student will finish four cookies to take home in a bakery box along with extra supplies, recipes, and tools for the art of decorating.

Please click here to register by March 10. The class fee is $25 per person and there is a 50 person limit for the class. Children 12 years and up are invited to participate.

You may prepay online, via Venmo, at the church office or by dropping a check into the offering plate. Payment MUST have a memo or note stating "Cookie Class". If you have any questions, please email chelseajocookies@gmail.com. Thank you!

Be a Reading Buddy

books_opened_on_table.jpg

We have a special opportunity to reach beyond our walls and serve as Reading Buddies at JR Irvin Elementary school! Buddies will read to the children on Fridays at 9 AM for about 30 minutes. We will read to preschool, kindergarten or first graders depending on the number of volunteers we have each week. Midlothian ISD requires a background check for all volunteers, which will be provided after you register your interest. Please click here to email Missions to receive more information.

Bring the Light of Christ Into Worship

The lighting of candles in a worship service symbolizes Jesus’ presence with the worshipping community. We are seeking light bearers to assist with the lighting of the altar candles during the 11 AM traditional service. Adults, youth and children at least 8 years old are welcome! If interested, please click here for more information!

Thank You, Church

I'm in complete agreement with Brady. It's very hard to ask for and accept help. It's easy to ask for others but not for myself. Don and I are so thankful and appreciative of all you, my friends, have done for us as I recover from my incident. We appreciate your prayers, cards, meals, texts, thoughtfulness and concern. I never in my life dreamed I would be in such a situation, but here I am. I'm doing better, but have a long way to go. I have quite a serious injury on my head and I can't drive for 6 months. I'm not going anywhere until I get relieved from the doctors, both the PCP and neurologist.

Again, Don and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and care we have received from our church family. I love my church.
