In Memoriam
Duane Cox
Dear friends in Christ,
Duane moved on from this world on May 24th. With sadness in our hearts, we find solace in knowing that he’s in a better place. Duane was a member at St. Barnabas since 2001. We don't have any information on a funeral but if we hear anything we will let you know.
Isaiah 41 tells us to "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." The Good News of God is that we are not alone in times of trouble. During this time of grief, we place our hope and trust in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection of Christ, and ask you to keep this family in your loving prayers.

Worship Leadership Team
Worship is the center of our life together as a community. The worship leadership team meets quarterly to plan upcoming seasons and special worship. The next time we meet, we’d like to invite you to join us. If you’d like to provide general feedback and constructive ideas about how we can help make worship even more glorifying to God, join us in the Alcove on this Sunday between services.

Summer Bible Study
This summer, we will be studying the Book of Acts, along with our mission, vision, and values, in order to learn how we can better Be the Church in a more authentic way. Starting on June 30th, we will also be studying Acts between services, using the multi-media course, "The Book of Acts: The
Ever-Expanding Church,” designed by Professor Steve Thomason from Luther Seminary. Sign up at the Welcome Center or by calling the church office so we know how many sets of materials to prepare.

New Member Information Class
We will hold a new member information class on Sunday, June 9th at 9:30am. Grab some coffee and a treat and join us in the small room just off of the Fellowship Hall. We will talk through St. Barnabas’s history, vision, and goals for the future, as well as providing materials about small groups etc. This is open to anyone who would like to learn more about St Barnabas, and you will not be expected to officially join, but would rather just learn more about our congregation. All are welcome to attend. We will welcome our newest members on Sunday, June 23rd.

A Note from The Shepherd's Team
If you have a loved one that’s ill, in the hospital or is shut-in and can’t make it to church, please talk to one of the pastors or call Brenda in the church office with their contact info. We want to reach out to our members and provide care and connection from our congregation.

Illegal To Be You
Pride Month is a time for LGBTQ+ neighbors to be part of a larger community and be supported for being their true selves. St. Barnabas will be showing their support for our neighbors by participating in the Golden Valley Pride Festival on June 8th. Click here to read about the history of Pride, and about how the ELCA encourages us to love our LGBTQ+ neighbors.

Other News & Church Activities | |
Little Free Library
Jack is a Boy Scout who is working on his eagle scout project, and will be installing a "little free library" near the entrance of the church along the trail this Sunday. The project is one of the final steps for Jack to achieve his eagle scout rank. Only about 6% of all scouts make it to eagle rank.
In addition to providing service and fulfilling the part of the Scout Oath, “To help other people at all times,” one of the primary purposes of the Eagle Scout service project is to learn leadership skills, or to improve or demonstrate leadership skills you already have. Related to this are important lessons in project management and taking responsibility for a significant accomplishment. An Eagle Scout candidate must have completed at least 21 merit badges, service in multiple troop leadership roles, and demonstrated values of the Scout Oath and Scout law in their daily lives.
Jack started in cub scout pack 539 here at St Barnabas when he was in 1st grade, and is now finishing 10th grade at Wayzata High School.
He will join us in the lobby after each service this Sunday, please consider either a cash donation or donating a children's book to help get the library stocked.

Free Flower Pots
St. Barnabas no longer uses these flower pots so they are available for anyone who wants to take them home.
They are VERY heavy and should only be used outside. You will find them behind the church, by the shed.

Clothing Drive
Redeemer Lutheran is our Gifts of Love recipient for June so, in addition to a pulpit-swap and monetary collection, we will be participating in a clothing drive. Redeemer is collecting clothing as a fundraiser in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation in order to raise funds to send northside ELCA parish youth to MYLE (Multicultural Youth Leadership Event) this summer. Bring your donations in trash bags through the month of June, and leave them at the Donation Station. Volunteers who can help pack the truck on July 1st will be needed, as well. Sign up at the Welcome Center or by calling the church office.

Summer Reading
Members and friends of St. Barnabas will be reading Ashes to Action by Shari Seifert this summer. In this memoir, Shari shares her experience at the center of the events following the death of George Floyd. She and her congregation, Calvary Lutheran, at 39th and Chicago, sought to meet the needs of the hurting community right at their doorstep, all in the middle of a global pandemic. Sign up at the Welcome Center, or by contacting the church office to receive more information or to participate with us! We will meet on three Tuesday evenings, June 11th, June 25th, and July 2nd at 6:00pm at Luce Line Brewing, 12901 16th Ave N, Plymouth.
