Guest Preacher next Sunday
On Sunday, April 14th we will have a guest preacher, Rev. David Wangaard who serves Global Refuge/Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services as Senior Advisor for Congregational Relations.
Rev. Wangaard was born in Bloomington, MN. After attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, he graduated from Luther Seminary in 1983. It was at Seminary that David met his spouse the Rev. Susan Tjornehoj. They became the first clergy couple to be married and ordained on the same day! Upon ordination, David and Susan served congregations in Northwest Alaska and Northern Minnesota. In 1995, he was called as Senior Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church on Capitol Hill in St. Paul. In 2001, he joined the Bishops staff of the Minneapolis Area Synod where he oversaw urban and multicultural ministries.
In 2012, Susan and David moved to Baltimore, MD where he joined Lutheran World Relief as Senior Advisor for Congregational Relations. Upon retirement in 2021, they moved back to St. Paul to be closer to their daughter. They've been married for 40 years and have a daughter who is a third grade teacher in St. Paul. In his spare time, David enjoys fishing, seeing friends and family, watching sports and spending time at their cabin in Colorado.

Volunteering at IOCP
15 volunteers worked on Saturday morning March 30th, at the IOCP for the Resale Select store. The group processed a number of big boxes/bins of donated clothing, meaning we decided whether each article of clothing was acceptable for the thrift store. If it was, we hung the garments on racks. If not, the articles went into bins for the Salvation Army to collect and use. Donations of shoes were also tagged by some of the volunteers. With 15 hard workers, we made a big dent in the processing area in 2 hours! Thank you to everyone who gave up part of their Easter weekend to help out! You rock!
