Church Council in Retreat This Weekend

Please keep our church council in your prayers as they gather for their annual council retreat. This is an important time of discerning, dreaming, and goal setting. It also is an opportunity for our council to get to know each other more, and to take time for fellowship. They gather offsite Friday evening and Saturday until mid-afternoon.

Volunteer Appreciation Sunday

Sunday April 28th has been designated as Volunteer Appreciation Sunday.

St. Barnabas is so appreciative of all our volunteers, those who are visible in helping with Sunday activities and those who graciously work behind the scenes!! We are blessed to have all of you lovingly give of your time and talents. THANK YOU!! Please help us celebrate with cake during the coffee hours on the 28th!

We're Getting Closer...

Watch for a

Mortgage Burning Party

coming soon!

A Note from The Shepherd's Team

If you have a loved one that’s ill, in the hospital or is shut-in and can’t make it to church, please talk to one of the pastors or call Brenda in the church office with their contact info. We want to reach out to our members and provide care and connection from our congregation.

St. Barnabas Blog

Just as we see change and growth in the soil outside, change is imminent here at St. Barnabas, and growth can be sure to come from it.

Other News & Church Activities

Seeking a Car or Housing to Use Mid-June through Mid-August

Do you have a car that is sitting, undriven? Would you be interested in lending to Pastor Jeff during 8 weeks this summer (until just before he leaves for England?). He is in need of a car to drive while his 2 daughters share his car this summer. It would only be driven for short trips around Plymouth, Maple Grove, and Wayzata, so miles would be minimal. Also, he is working to locate temporary housing during that time. If you have any connection to a place that is sitting empty for June-August he would be glad to pay rent to you, rather than finding a temp site online. Please contact Pastor Jeff.

Care Packages

Finals are around the corner, and we would like to remind our college students that we love them and are thinking about them. We’re planning on packing care packages on Sunday, April 28th, between services. Please consider donating to the packages - we could use microwave popcorn, fun post-its, pens, chapsticks, and any other little comforts you can think of! Drop them at the church office anytime before Sunday, the 28th!

Enhanced Safety Items

for St. Barnabas!

We have added a couple of safety items to assist with emergencies, if they should happen. One is a choking hazard devise that assists in dislodging a person’s airway, and the other is a Naloxone nasal spray in the event of an opioid overdose. These items are located next to our defibrillator machine in the front coat closet near the main office. We are also planning for opportunities for training on how to use these items for anyone who is interested in learning. The more people who are aware of how to use these first alert items, the better our quick response in the event of an emergency. We added these items to be better prepared in the event of a medical emergency.

Scouts in Action!

The Scouts were here on Monday evening laying down fresh mulch, picking up sticks & branches and washing the deck furniture.

Backyard Visitors

Last Thursday during the Outreach & Justice meeting here at church, Pastor Stephanie took pictures of these 7 deer that were hanging around out back.

RIP Medical Debt

Heidi Mandt apologizes for the delay in getting this out in the E-news, but we did receive our fulfillment report a few weeks ago from RIP Medical debt. With the $5,879 given from our church last year, RIP was able to forgive $835,000 in medical debt, wiping clean the debt for over 600 families! This included over a hundred families here in Minnesota. Thank you again for your amazing generosity to this cause. While we do not have a pledge goal moving forward at this time, we hope to continue working with THEEAlliance and RIP in the future!" To view the Medical Debt Fulfillment Report click here.

Nordic Walking Group

Every Monday at 5:00pm, we will begin walking at French Park. Loaner poles are available on a first come first serve basis. If you’re new and would like to join, you can sign up in the Narthex or contact Barb Sanders at (763) 559-5990.

St. Barnabas Spring Tea

Saturday, April 27th

Guest Speaker: Tina Haroldson

Spring is a joyous season that brings the hope of new life and growth. And yet, without a caring nurturer to aid in the process, the only things that are guaranteed to thrive are weeds. Tina Haroldson will walk us through the gardens of our lives and with humor, scripture and wisdom, focus on the "True Hope of New Life".

Since 1987 the dream of encouraging and strengthening individuals has been a reality for speaker Tina Haroldson. She has ministered all over the US and has enjoyed international outreach as well. From South Africa to Central America to Santa Fe, she has shared her unique blend of humor and biblical insight with diverse audiences.

Cost: $15.00 (pay cash at the door the day of event). Guests are welcome.

Sign up at the Welcome Center, call the church office or text Valerie Cook at (763) 464-0469.

Community Happenings

MnDOT Update: Highway 55 project begins Monday, April 15

Beginning Monday, April 15, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will resurface Highway 55 between Old Rockford Road in Plymouth and General Mills Blvd. in Golden Valley. The major project includes paving, access modifications, stormwater system improvements, shared use trail updates and a signal replacement.

These improvements will benefit road users by providing a smoother road surface, enhanced safety and reduced congestion, new trail connections, and the implementation of trail infrastructure that meets Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

On April 15, crews will begin preliminary work near Old Rockford Road in Plymouth to prepare the area for upcoming construction work. The first phase will involve shoulder work and lane closures.

Those traveling in the area should prepare for potential delays and closures as crews reconstruct Highway 55. Motorists can expect lane closures and weekend directional closures during construction. The project is anticipated to be completed this fall.

For more information and to sign up for project email updates, visit MnDOT's project webpage.
