New Adult Faith Formation Opportunites

Each week, Pastor Dave welcomes you to his study as he does research for his sermon. This week’s episode of The Pastor’s Study is the third and final study for our Peace be With You series. In it Pastor Dave explores the Old Testament concept of justice, the New Testament understanding of being justified by grace through faith, and how throughout all of Scripture justice, mercy, and peace are linked together. Pastor Dave would love you to join him in his study, for this study.

Watch this week’s episode on the Cross of Christ YouTube channel (and don’t forget to subscribe)!
Advent Worship
Next week we enter into the season of Advent. Its themes of watchful waiting seem extra appropriate this year. In addition to Sunday services, we are also recording short and we hope sweet midweek Advent reflections with music, Scripture, prayers and a brief weekly devotional homily from Pastor Dave. These and our Sunday Advent worship recordings will be posted on the Cross of Christ YouTube channel throughout the season.
Share Your Advent Candle Lighting
We’re also asking for your help and participation. We’d love to have you record yourself and those in your household lighting Advent candles to be shared in our Advent worship services. The candles can be part of an Advent wreath, but any candles will do.

If you are willing to share a short recording, please email Director of Worship and Music Ministries Ben Fowler – ben@cofclc.net - to receive some brief directions on how to make and send a recording. Thanks in advance for helping us stay connected as we share the light of Christ’s love during Advent.
Pandemic Response Update
Even as we hear encouraging news about the development of potential COVID-19 vaccines, the current circumstances with the spread of the coronavirus locally and nationally continue to be moving in concerning directions. Cases, hospitalizations, and death are rising at an alarming rate. In response, Washington Governor Inslee this week issued new directives to restrict the opportunities for spread. For the most part, the measures only serve to reinforce the good measures we already have in place at Cross of Christ.

We all long to be together again, to hold events and meetings on campus, and especially to return to in-person worship. However, we MUST do our part to slow the spread of the virus, especially over these upcoming winter months. Please stay safe and healthy, and continue to follow proven methods that doctors, scientists, and sound guidance call us to - properly wear a mask, practice safe distancing, avoid large and even for a while small gatherings, and wash hands regularly.
Cub Scout Wreath Sales
Thanks to all who ordered wreaths and other holiday greenery from our Cub Scout Pack 673. If you didn’t get your order in on time, but would still like to purchase a regular (28”) or small (12”) wreath, a few are still available. Email Pastor Dave. First come, first sold, so get your last-call orders in now: pastordave@cofclc.net
Thanksgiving Eve Service
A Rabbi, a Priest, and a Lutheran Pastor walk into a Zoom meeting...

You are invited to join clergy, musicians, and worship leaders from Cross of Christ and other Interfaith Covenant congregations for a virtual Thanksgiving Eve Gathering. This recorded program will be premiered this Wednesday – Thanksgiving Eve – at 6 pm on the Cross of Christ YouTube channel.

An email with a link will be sent tomorrow or Tuesday. While we wish we could be together in person, this will be a beautiful program filled with wonderful music, prayers, readings and reflections, as well as a statement of our commitment to “togetherness” this year and always.
Office Hours and Campus Closure
While the physical office is closed, we keep “virtual” office regular hours Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 2 pm. Office Administrator Judy Giseburt is available to answer your phone calls and emails during these times. Staff have a paid holiday on Thanksgiving Day. We’ll be available again on Monday. Have a blessed and very, very safe Thanksgiving.

Other than our Ark Early Learning Center and our weekly recorded worship sessions, the campus and facilities are closed due to COVID-19 to all visitors, including members. If you have a need to come on campus, please email or call Pastor Dave to make arrangements in advance – email pastordave@cofclc.net or 425-746-7300. Thanks for helping us do our part to keep everyone healthy and reduce the impact of this pandemic.
