It's Time For Golf!

Thoughts from James P. Cronin

Welcome back for another season of great golf and relaxation at Cronin's Golf Resort. Spring seems to finally be taking hold and the course is shaping up nicely. The crew is already mowing, seeding, fertilizing and getting the course in perfect  condition. As always we are working hard to make improvements to increase your fun. The 18th green is coming along and it should be ready by early summer for its grand opening. In the meantime we will play the 13th as a par 4 and a par 3 and end each round on the 17th

Each year and season brings about changes, both good and bad. This year we will remember fondly Beverly Cronin and Dick Valmore, who are no longer with us. Our mom Bev was a driving force in helping John and I build and continually improve Cronin's. Her presence will be deeply missed each and every day, not only by the Cronin family, but by everyone who has enjoyed our resort. Dick also had a big impact at Cronin's and it will seem strange to be on the course or in the club house without him being there, offering advice on your shot, or comments on your game!

With May just around the corner we are getting ready to start our leagues and Wednesday night Cash Bash. Take a look at the calendar for league meetings and Cash Bash start up dates and times. If interested in joining one of the leagues, please give us a call at the clubhouse and we will work to fit you in.

The restaurant and bar are open for the season, and with a little warm weather The Edge will be ready to host your after round beverage. There isn't a better time to play than early spring while the weather is cool, the bugs aren't out and the course is in great shape.

As always we look forward to  you joining us at Cronin's Golf Resort. We are here to help you have a great day on the course, at the pool, the restaurant, cottages or anywhere else on our property.  On behalf of all of the Cronin's staff, thanks for joining us and please let us know how we can make your day even better at Cronin's Golf Resort.

Gore Snow Sports Tournament -  Sunday  May 5th - 8:30 AM

Birdies & Bogies, by Dave Bulmer

Spring is starting out slowly this year, and seemingly more so, since we all remember playing golf in March of 2012 in 75 degree weather. None the less, it is starting to warm up and the course has handled the winter well. All holes are open with the exception of the 18th as construction continues on rebuilding that green. The 18th will be open just in time for the July Tournaments.

Had the chance to watch a bit of the Masters, still confused about the "Tiger Ruling" but they say it was all legal. The problem I have is that a spectator can call in and let the officials know of a rules violation. Can you imagine any other sport allowing that? But it does help us all understand how confusing and strange some of the rules of golf are. How do we as fun loving recreational golfers know all the rules and regulations? Bottom line is we don't, so we play fairly, keep up the pace and enjoy the game. If you have a question on a rule, or regulation, just go on with your game, and check with John  in the clubhouse afterwards.

This is the time of year to be thinking about your equipment. Remember those clubs you put away last year knowing they needed new grips? Have you checked your spikes? Do you have good rain gear and umbrellas so you can enjoy the game in all types of Adirondack weather?  The Pro Shop is ready to handle your needs, including re-gripping those clubs. Make sure to talk to John in the Clubhouse about your equipment so you can start the season off with your equipment in great shape.

I think I speak for many in saying it won't seem the same around the clubhouse without "Big Bev" smiling at us and sharing a story or two. Great lady, who had a huge impact on Cronin's Resort and we will all miss her this spring.
