FY25 Recommended Budget Breakdown

The $391 million FY25 Recommended Budget reduces the tax rate to 60 cents per $100 of assessed valuation – a 14-cent reduction from the prior year. With that, owners of a $356,350 house (the median single-family assessed home value in Cabarrus as of the 2024 revaluation) would pay $2,138.10 a year in County property tax.

Recommended Budget highlights:

  • 10.6 million in pay increases for public safety positions, including Sheriff's Office, EMS and Emergency Management and Fire Services
  • Eight EMS positions to place a 14th ambulance into service; two new specialist positions for in-house training and medical supply distribution. This additional ambulance will provide coverage 24/7/365, improve response times and reduce the need for standby coverage.
  • Ten new positions to support DSS services, library security and general public safety
  • $112.6 million for school related funding for Cabarrus County Schools, Kannapolis City Schools, Rowan Cabarrus Community College and per-pupil funding for charter schools
