All great work starts with a dedicated leader. Cristo Rey Orlando is happy to formally welcome Amanda Livermore as the school’s founding president.
Amanda most recently served as the Director of the Feasibility Study and has distinguished herself as a champion for the school. She gathered support from over 30 Corporate Sponsors who have committed to jobs as part of Cristo Rey Orlando’s work-study program.
Here’s a little more about the woman who will be leading CRO to new heights!
Q: How excited are you that CRO passed the feasibility study and is ready to launch?
A: I am bursting with joy and gratitude for all the people who have come together to make this school a reality. We have visited several Cristo Rey schools around the country and have been so impressed seeing the mission at work! We cannot wait to open Cristo Rey doors for the Orlando community and welcome our founding students.
Q: What part of the building are you most excited about, and why?
A: Honestly that changes from day to day. As we dive into the architectural designs, we think about all the opportunities our students will experience here with an amazing team of people supporting them. I do love the chapel which is right at the entrance of the school and serves as a reminder as we arrive and as we leave that we are beloved children of God who is with us, for us, and gives us what we need to be the people He has created us to be.
Q: Why should parents consider CRO for their children?
A: We are building a civilization of love that breaks the mold of traditional education, providing life-changing opportunities for ambitious students. At Cristo Rey Orlando, we partner with parents to help their children discover their potential and build up the skills to live that potential in the world. This is a completely different experience of education than students will get anywhere else in Orlando AND it’s rooted in the virtues and values of Catholic tradition.
Q: Favorite spots in Orlando! Restaurants? Family fun? Theme park/s? Best advice for anyone new to town for something they must check out?
A: We moved here from Lakeland almost 10 years ago and we still haven’t run out of things to do! My family loves to spend time together and Orlando offers countless ways to do that. For example, recently we had friends who were shocked that we had not yet visited Linda’s La Cantina and insisted on taking us there. We loved it and can’t wait to go back! Our favorite theme parks have changed over the years as our kids got older, each giving us some great memories. One piece of advice is to keep trying new things. Every door we walk through, and every person we meet, makes us love this community even more.
