Crawfish are an excellent source of protein. On washed crawfish, fat content on tail meat is only about one percent of RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance). Because of shorter muscle fibers, crawfish are more easily digested. They are also low in calories, fat, saturated fat and a good source of vitamins. A 3 oz (85g) order of crawfish contain biotin, calcium, iron, niacin, phosphorus, protein, selenium, vitamin A, vitamin B-6 and vitamin B-12. Although crawfish tend to be higher in cholesterol than most other shellfish, a 3 oz. serving provides only about half of the daily recommended allowance.
