Cowden Elementary hosts second annual

Amazing Shake public speaking competition🤝

The two-day contest encouraged students to display confidence, poise, etiquette and good eye contact when speaking.


“This one single event at our school is a game changer for students," said Dr. Cherie Norman, principal at Cowden Elementary. "They are poised, respectful, and most of all, far more confident than ever before. It’s evident when you walk in the doors of our school, when you interact with our students, we have something special here."

It's Water Table Wednesday at Fulbright Early Childhood Center

On Wednesdays, more than 200 preK learners splash into exploring their senses at the water table. There, with their sleeves rolled up, they learn gross motor skills, while also interacting with concepts from their classrooms.

KHS orchestra director receives MoASTA Outstanding Secondary Educator Award

Kickapoo High School orchestra director Annie Honeycutt was selected as the recipient of the Missouri American String Teachers Association (MoASTA) Outstanding Secondary Educator Award. The award was presented to her at the MoASTA luncheon in Osage Beach Jan. 25.

SPS was well represented on Jan. 19 at Missouri State University as students from Central, Cherokee, Glendale, Hillcrest, Kickapoo and Parkview participated in the Region 10 FCCLA STAR events.

Nominate an outstanding SPS counselor for Counselor of the Year

Nominations can be made by colleagues, administrators, SPS students, or parents of SPS students who have a professional connection with the nominee. Submit a nomination by Feb. 16.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year. To be eligible, the nominee must have four or more years of teaching experience with SPS.
