Keep on truckin'Tickets are going fast for this concert, featuring child guitar prodigy Derek Trucks and his blues musician wife Susan Tedeschi. That's not surprising, since Trucks first grabbed the attention of the music industry at the age of nine, began touring with the Allman Brothers at around age 10 and became the leader of his own band at age 15. This slide guitar specialist merged bands with his wife, creating what they like to call a Soul Stew Revival. You'll definitely want to shout "Hallelujah" after hearing what they've come up with. Introducing the Metro Spirit's new columnists: Corey Washington and Scott Hudson The Metro Spirit is introducing a new weekly column called, "Who's right and what's left?" featuring two new columnists: local author and social studies teacher Corey Washington and WGAC investigative reporter Scott Hudson.
Many Augustans may be familiar with Washington as the author of the "Plain Talk" series of books, which he describes as "racial self-help" books that promote cultural diversity and awareness. Joining Washington will be a familiar voice on the radio. Hudson, an award-winning reporter for WGAC, is also a soon-to-be published author of the book, "The Contract on the Government," set to be released in late February. Each week, the Metro Spirit will choose one topic that both columnists will write about. Sometimes they may agree, but often they won't. Their views will definitely get people talking. Readers can join in the conversation by going to the newspaper's website, metrospirit.com, and commenting about the columns every week. The paper will also accept suggestions for future topics that the new columnists might tackle. Metro Spirit is looking for interns!
