compares the ink costs stats of about 40 different printers, high-yield cartridges will on average print you a page of black for about 3.4 cents and a 3-color page for about 7 cents.  HP and Brother are tied on black pages, each costing about 4.2 cents per page. However, HP does win out over Brother when it comes to color. HP can print you a page of color for an average of 7.2 cents while Brother will cost you closer to 7.5 cents per page.

And then there are Epson's ink prices which seem to be all over the board depending on which model printer you are using. The Artisan and WorkForce lines yield stats of 3.1-3.3 cents for black. The Artisan prints a color page for a phenomenal 5.9 cents while the WorkForce is just over 8 cents. On the expensive end of the scale is the Epson Stylus line which averages almost 6 cents per page for black and almost 10 cents for 3-color pages. Epson also makes "moderate" cartridges for Stylus printers that are even less efficient, printing a black page for 6.2 cents and a 3-color page for almost 18 cents.
