Dear Historic Preservation Supporter,
The Talmadge Park Estates Historic District is approaching its hearing for National Register designation before the State Historic Resources Commission on February 2. In anticipation of that hearing, San Diego’s Historical Resources Board (HRB) will be voting on whether to support the nomination at its meeting this Thursday, January 25 at 1pm.
Staff has recommended that the HRB support the nomination. This is very positive, but there will likely be objections at the hearing from outside groups who oppose all historic designations in San Diego regardless of historic merit. The HRB’s role does not permit them to consider any issue other than historicity. Broad public support for the district will ensure that the HRB hearing remains within that role.
Please submit your written comments via the HRB webform (Agenda item #4) in support of the Talmadge Park Estates Historic District National Register Nomination. Comments must be received by Thursday, January 25, 7am to be included in the public comments given to the board.
In addition to submitting a comment online, you can attend the meeting remotely or in person.
