New! Florida Aquarium Approved for $15M in CRA Funding for Redevelopment Project


Tampa’s Community Redevelopment Agency approved $15 million in funding for a Florida Aquarium redevelopment project.

In three phases, expected to be completed by 2026, the aquarium will create four new exhibits, including a new penguin and sea lion exhibit, and the state’s only puffin exhibit. The redevelopment plan also includes improved amenities for guests. The entire project is expected to cost $45 million, of which the aquarium will cover $30 million

New! Rock the Plaza Heads to Ocean Plaza


The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) will host the second activation for the highly anticipated Rock the Plaza concert series. The free, business promotional event will take place on Saturday, May 25th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ocean Plaza, located at 640 East Ocean Avenue. There will be limited parking available at the plaza, with additional parking located at 115 N. Federal Highway.


Rock the Plaza is a traveling concert series that showcases different plazas located within the BBCRA area, while spotlighting the thriving small business community. The activation will feature a live performance by the band Girlfriend Material, family friendly-activities, and special promotions from businesses located within Ocean Plaza. Event attendees are encouraged to stroll the plaza to visit the restaurants, eateries, retailers, and professional service providers located within the plaza.

Eighty New Coconut Palms Line Bridge Street


Eighty new coconut palms have been delivered and are being planted along Bridge Street.



“This will be a big improvement,” Mayor John Chappie said on April 25. “Many of the existing trees needed to be replaced.”

At an April 3 Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting, the board approved a city partnership with developer Shawn Kaleta in which he will accept responsibility for the maintenance of the trees and donate $10,000 toward the $50,000 cost of the palms and white river rock. The balance will be paid from CRA funds.

Center for Arts Innovation Could Turn into Boca Raton's Cultural Hub


You may already know the famous Centre Pompidou in Paris, The Shard in London, or even The Whitney in New York. The renowned Italian architecture firm behind these storied structures — the Renzo Piano Building Workshop — has been tapped to design the future Center for Arts & Innovation in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park, part of a long-term effort to give Palm Beach County residents a “cultural hub.”


“Innovation is like beauty — you don’t just say someone is beautiful for their exterior, they’re also beautiful because of their mind,” architect Renzo Piano said in a statement. “The same sentiment will apply to The Center. It’s not about being a beautiful building; the beauty is in what will be created and invented inside the building.

Park Avenue Streetscape Plan Advances - Lake Wales CRA


The stretch of Park Avenue between First and Market Streets is rapidly nearing completion, offering business owners and shoppers a tantalizing hope that it will soon be opened to vehicular traffic. Work is also advancing on the eastern stretch of the street closest to Scenic Highway.


New sidewalks through the area have offered pedestrians a close-up view of the construction, which has featured rumbling heavy equipment and laborious hand-work efforts to place many thousands of new brick pavers. Work is also underway to expand and recreate the popular MarketPlace as a center for community activities and festivals. That work should be completed in September, according to the City manager James Slaton.

New! Notice of Intent to Dispose of Pensacola Motor Lodge


The City of Pensacola Community Redevelopment Agency has issued a notice of intent to dispose of the Pensacola Motor Lodge, 2305 W. Cervantes St. Interested parties who wish to be considered for this opportunity must submit a narrative proposal to the city no later than 5 p.m. Friday, May 24.


The narrative proposal shall provide a brief overview of the proposed development program, the development team composition, and qualifications related to the city’s vision for the project, as outlined in the Request for Letters of Interest (RLOI) issued Feb. 23.
