Dear Merrimack Community
This morning we sent out an update regarding Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt and unfortunately there was a typo in this mornings message that was missed. The original post said "registration is now required" and it was supposed to say "registration is NOT required"
The other question we have heard today is why is the event still happening with rain and snow in the forecast for Saturday?
The reason for this that between the volunteers, our community partners, the limited staff we have and other activities taking place at Wasserman Park; there simply is no option to reschedule this event to another date.
It then becomes a choice between running the event in inclement weather, or cancelling the event outright. The shelf life of the candy in the eggs would not last a year (as we learned in 2020 when we had to cancel the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic and so we would have to throw it all away.
We would prefer people dress appropriately for the weather and come out and enjoy the event with smaller crowds likely. In the past; when we've had to operate special events in inclement weather; participants have still shown up so we are proceeding as scheduled on Saturday.
Again this is a free event and registration is NOT required.
We apologize for the confusion. Thank you and we hope to see you all on Saturday at Wasserman Park.
