 The Brooklyn Oratory Parishes

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Boniface

May 30, 2024

Online giving:

Family Mass Sunday, June 2, 9:30am at Assumption.

Social Justice Action/St. Mary Star of the Sea (SMSS) MENS Clothing Donation Request.

Catholic Charities is partnering with SMSS (467 Court St.) to help distribute clothing to the local migrant/asylee population. The need is great, as the numbers have increased significantly in the past months. In response to that request, Mary Carriero and her team from SMSS have created clothing pop-up shops. The Oratory Social Justice Action group would like to support them by requesting clothing donations.

The immediate need now is for men's clothing in sizes small and medium. (No women's clothing will be accepted at this time.)

How to Help:

What: Donate Men's Clothing at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 467 Court St.

Items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the rectory (entrance on Luquer St.) or on the weekends, June 1, 15, and 29, at St. Mary Star of the Sea itself, before or after the 4pm Mass on Saturdays or the 9am Mass on Sundays.

Contact: Mary Carriero, or 718 625-2270.

If you would like to volunteer to help at the pop-up shop, the dates are Saturdays, June 1, 15, and 29, 10am to 1pm, at The Chapel Thrift Shop on Luquer St. The sign-up sheet is below.

Coffee Hour on Sunday, June 2 at StB following the 11:15am Mass.

Website Update

As part of upgrading our Oratory Parishes website, we are partnering with DeSales Media, a professional media company, to capture images of our beautiful churches and wonderful parishioners. On Sunday, June 9, DeSales Media photographers will attend our parish Masses to photograph both the interior and exterior of our buildings and parishioners. We are thrilled to be working with DeSales Media on this project and are excited to showcase our church community on our updated website. The rain date is Sunday, June 16.
