COVID-19 Capital Costs Tax Credit Program; NYC Child Care & Early Childhood Education Plan; and More!

- Governor Hochul signed legislation (S.9468/ A.10491) to protect roughly 11,000 more transit workers against assault and harassment.
- The bill will expand current law that charges individuals who attack or harass transit workers with second degree assault.
- Empire State Development opened the initial intake tool to help small businesses determine their eligibility for the COVID-19 Capital Costs Tax Credit Program.
- The program will support small businesses that made investments to comply with emergency orders and regulations or to increase public safety in response to COVID-19.
- If deemed eligible by the screening tool, a link to the application will be provided when the program application opens. Click here for the screening application.
- The governor has reauthorized legislation for the use of New York City school zone speed cameras through July 1, 2025
- Within this reauthorization, the use of school zone speed cameras have been expanded to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Read more here.
- NYS has extended the deadline to apply for tax exemption on renovations to or the reconstruction of residential properties affected by Superstorm Sandy.
- The new law (S.8718/A.9424) extends the deadline by two years, to March 1, 2024. Read more here.

NYC SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCE NETWORK
|
|
The NYC Small Business Resource Network is a unique private/public partnership that provides our local businesses with the free, personalized guidance they need right now to survive the pandemic. If you have a small business, you can sign up for this network today.
Once you fill out the brief intake form, you will be matched with a business support specialist. Through this program, all five borough Chambers of Commerce have specialists offering one-on-one support to businesses in their boroughs.
The program is funded by a $2.8 million grant from the New York City-based Peter G. Peterson Foundation and supported by in-kind contributions from other partners, this collaboration, led by the Partnership for New York City, the NYC Economic Development Corporation and all five Chambers of Commerce, leverages the city’s corporate, financial and professional services sectors, as well as universities, philanthropies and expert volunteers to help small business owners gain access to a range of programs and services.
