Just Around The Corner!

Corner Lake Middle School Community Brief

Friday, April 5, 2024

Hello Mark,

This is National Assistant Principal’s Week and we certainly want to take time to recognize, appreciate, and honor our two amazing Assistant Principals – Katie Hyser and Adam Concannon. Dr. Hyser and Mr. Concannon, as I’m sure we can all agree, are extraordinary school administrators. They “check all the boxes” when it comes to great assistant principals.

When looking for the perfect assistant principal for a school, I really do not know how many boxes there are to check to find that one game-changing, difference-making, show-stopping, life-transforming, perfect assistant principal, but there has to be a lot of boxes when you stop to consider all of the responsibilities placed upon assistant principals in today’s school environment.

Mr. Concannon, Mr. Browning, and Dr. Hyser

Before becoming a school principal, I was an assistant principal for six years and I know that a lot is asked of the assistant principals in a school. They wear many hats of varying shapes and sizes. My guess would be that there has to be at least thirty to forty boxes ranging from check-boxes related to people skills, curriculum and instruction, facilities and operations, discipline and safety, communication, and personal integrity, just to name a few of the categories that the checkboxes fall under.

I think a school is doing really well who can snag even one assistant principal who checks most of the boxes, but a school is doing exceedingly well who is fortunate enough to have two assistant principals like Dr. Hyser and Mr. Concannon who check all of the boxes. Each of our assistant principals are the total package as school leaders and Corner Lake Middle School is much better off because of them. Our students are better off. Our teachers are better off. Our parents are better off. Our support staff is better off. And, I can personally say that our principal is better off for the help and support that Dr. Hyser and Mr. Concannon provide in generous supply.

We appreciate Dr. Hyser and Mr. Concannon tremendously and we are grateful for the sacrifices they gladly make to enrich the lives of everyone in this building and those in the community! Thank you Dr. Hyser and Mr. Concannon for everything that you do! You are without a doubt future inductees into the Assistant Principal Hall of Fame!
