CSU Corn Trial Results Available

The CCPC is working with the CSU crops testing program to give producers an unbiased look at new varieties and traits for corn grown in various locations around eastern Colorado. The link to the CSU crops testing page and the results for 2023 hybrid performance can be found here.


Akron Research Station Weed Discussion

Join the USDA-ARS for the first Akron Dryland Conversations, Monday, December 4, 1:00-2:30, at the Akron Central Great Plains Research Station 4 miles east of Akron, where they’ll have a panel presentation and round-table discussion of “Understanding and Managing Herbicide-Resistant Weeds in Dryland Farming”.

Drought & River Transport Impact on Corn Competitiveness

For the second year in a row, drought conditions are impacting transportation on the Mississippi River at the peak shipment point of the year. Shallower river levels mean barge weight restrictions, slower barge traffic, and higher costs to ship commodities on the river. Ultimately, this translates to a relatively lower price at the farmgate and higher cost for the world buyer.

Scholarship Program Empowers Future Ag Leaders

The National Corn Growers Association is thrilled to announce the launch of its annual scholarship program for the 2024 academic year. This program is designed to support students who are passionate about agriculture and making a positive impact in their community.


To apply for the scholarship, students must complete an online application. Submissions are now being accepted, and the deadline to complete is January 31, 2024.

Pesticide Applicator Continuing Education

Mountain West Pesticide Education & Safety Training (PEST) is happy to announce pesticide applicator recertification workshops around Colorado this upcoming training season. All of these workshops provide ALL seven required core credits. The workshops are open to both private and commercial applicators as well as applicator technicians. If you are a commercial applicator and need category credits, please contact MWPEST.

Enter NCGA’s Photo Contest

Fields-of-Corn.com, the official photo contest of the National Corn Growers Association (NGCA), relaunched on the first of September.

 

Open to all, NCGA invites photographers to help tell the story of farming field corn in America. Through this contest, NCGA seeks high-resolution photos to document the rich history of growing corn, captured from seed to harvest as well as the tenacious families that grow it. Entries will be accepted through the end of November and will be available to accumulate votes directly through the website, closing on December 31.

 

Photographers will be competing for 26 awards over eight categories. Visa gift card prizes range up to $500. Winners will be announced in January 2024.
