As a team, RC Strategies has collectively been on a journey of learning and reconciliation. Internally, we have sought to create space to foster a collaborative and collective learning process where team members can and have talked through the issues of systemic racism and discrimination in Canada and the needed work of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
We have participated in formal learning opportunities including CPRA’s The Path: Your Journey through Indigenous Canada and team members have studied Indigenous relations and engagement through the University of Alberta, First Nations University of Canada and Alqonquin College.
We acknowledge this process of learning and reconciliation is still ongoing and evolving with each season. Team members are personally and professionally committed to continue their learning and furthering their understanding about how our planning work can contribute to creating more equitable and inclusive parks and recreation opportunities for all.
