IT'S INNOVATIVE THINKING, DEDICATION TO CRAFT, AND A STORY THAT INSPIRES...

FOR THE PEOPLE THAT STARTED A REVOLUTION OF PERSONAL STYLE IN BOSTON,

BY THE PEOPLE DOING IT TODAY.

#reclaimedstyle

In 2013, Converse announced it was locating it's new global headquarters at downtown Boston's Lovejoy Wharf. The area had fallen into serious neglect over the years and when one of their in-house designers found out what had to be done to rehabilitate the area, Converse became very interested in the wood we were saving from the site. A short video clip posted to our Facebook page showed how the oak pilings were harvested, processed and transported to our sawmill. Realizing the unlimited potential of using historic, reclaimed wood salvaged directly on-site in their project, they reached out to us. Over the next few years, they applied it's powerful character, and unique style upon every surface they could imagine: walls, stairs, conference desks, table-tops, benches, product displays- you name it!

Collaborating with clients like Converse to deliver exceptional quality products as unique as the people who use them, using locally-sourced, responsible building materials is what we have done from the beginning. We'd especially like to thank John Shipman, who was a genuine All-Star to work with from start to finish, and the team of designers at Converse who saw something special in what we were doing. They saw something much more valuable than just some old wood to put in their building... they saw a chance to share a piece of their local community history with their world-famous global community, and it's a story we're delighted to have been a part of.

ORIGINAL STYLE IS NEVER CUT DOWN, IT'S RECLAIMED.

The first buildings of Lovejoy Wharf were constructed around 1907, supported by the original oak pilings driven into the harbor years before. Just one year later in 1908, Converse began as a rubber shoe company based in Malden. By 1920, they had branded their world famous basketball sneaker the "All Star" and every youngster in Boston wanted a pair.

The name stood, and so did the oak pilings that we harvested a century later from the cool waters of Boston Harbor.  During their time there, out of sight below the bustling wharf, this humble wood supported the lives of tens of thousands of people, dozens of businesses and buildings above. It was just dirty old wood serving it's purpose.

Well, until now.

Unlike any other surface on the planet, this beautiful reclaimed wood carries with it a lasting legacy. It's unmatched durability, style, and story is like no other. It was the perfect fit for a company so heavily tied to Boston's historic, American industrial roots. So by helping to build our local communities in a responsible, sustainable manner, we're ensuring valuable resources like this old-growth, antique oak will last for another 100 years, or more! We're proud to have the support of global business leaders like Converse, their parent company Nike, as well as smaller regional and local businesses alike as we share the story of your iconic Boston Harbor Wharf Wood, a reclaimed wood all-star.
