Nearly One-Third of Realtors® Say Lack of Inventory Stopped Clients from Buying Homes in 2022

Housing Supply Dropped to Lowest Level Since 1999

WASHINGTON (July 11, 2023)

"The report's findings clearly show that the lack of housing inventory is impacting Realtors®' ability to find buyers a home," said Jessica Lautz, NAR deputy chief economist and vice president of research. "Housing inventory and affordability continue to be the top obstacles that hold back potential clients in the housing market."

Key Highlights

NAR membership grew to 1.58 million at the end of 2022, up from 1.56 million at the end of 2021.
More than three-quarters of Realtors® (76%) are certain they will remain in the real estate industry for at least two more years.
An indication of strong housing demand and rising home prices, the typical member's sales volume increased to $3.4 million in 2022, up from $2.6 million in 2021. The typical member had 12 transactions in 2022, the same as in 2021.

Board of Director Positions for 2024-2026 Term Open

The application period for the Board of Directors is July 1, 2023 – August 18, 2023

RACI is seeking individuals for Director positions, starting in January 2024, who are strategic thinkers, demonstrate a strong commitment to professionalism, and possess a genuine desire to actively engage in the role.

The personal time and energy you invest in this role are crucial in contributing to the development of a stronger Board and, ultimately, a more robust real estate industry.

One position is available in each of RACI's six counties, and the nominating committee is looking forward to selecting dedicated individuals who will contribute to the growth and success of the organization.

RACI Director criteria:

REALTOR® for at least three (3) years
Governance, interpersonal & leadership skills
Has served on a committee or leadership role
Supportive of Association events & functions
Acts in a professional & ethical manner
