Election Security

Hello, My name is Kristin B. Connelly and I am your elected Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters. I am sending this newsletter out to all our registered voters who have an email address with us to ensure that our office is communicating everything you need to know about the upcoming election. Election Day (or E-Day as we like to call it) is on Tuesday November 5, 2024.

We know there is a lot of noise out there about elections and we want you to know that your elections office is your trusted source of election information. If you see information out on the internet or in your mailbox or anywhere else that you are unsure of, please go to our website to double check that what you are seeing is true. Voting by mail is safe and secure. We layer security into every aspect of Contra Costa County’s elections. We take many steps – 48 steps to be exact – to protect your vote. The Contra Costa County Elections Division guarantees election security by protecting technology, processes, facilities and people. Before election results are finalized, election officials ensure that every eligible ballot is counted, that voters only voted once, that all proper procedures were followed and that the vote tabulation system properly counted ballots. Check Your Voter Registration Status

In order to vote in the upcoming election, you must be registered to vote in your county of residence. You have several options to register to vote. You can register online at https://registertovote.ca.gov, or complete a voter registration card available at most post offices, city halls, and libraries throughout Contra Costa.

To be eligible to vote in this election, a registered voter must be a U.S. Citizen, at least 18 years of age by Election Day, a resident of the state, and not currently serving a federal or state prison term for the conviction of a felony.

If you are a Contra Costa County Resident and currently live overseas and/or are serving in the military, you have options! (Email us at Voter.Services@vote.cccounty.us)

You must update your registration if you have moved or changed your name (married, divorced, etc.).

You can check your voter registration status on our website at www.contracostavote.gov by clicking on the “My Voting Information” button.

Our office does not contact residents by text message to ask them to register to vote. If you receive a text message or an email that appears suspicious, please do not fill out any personal information. Go directly to www.contracostavote.gov and click on the “My Voter Registration” button to verify your status. Register early to receive a ballot in the mail. If you want to vote in-person, being registered will speed up the process at your polling place on Election Day.
