Welcome to our monthly newsletter, where we bring you human interest stories, current events and information on Belize!
The Consulate of Belize in Florida is proud to announce that in addition to processing Belizean Passports and Emergency Travel Documents, it is now issuing Identification Cards, facilitating many Belizeans living in Florida with the opportunity to hold an official ID from Belize. Acceptance of these cards at U.S. offices and other institutions, however, depends on their discretion.

to the well-being of these children by improving their health, education and living conditions through charitable projects and fundraisers. See & Taste Belize, Inc. was established in
2015 with the aim of giving back to the Belizean community while showcasing Belize's art, culture and cuisine. The See & Taste Belize annual festival will feature top artists and

Martinez Becomes Three-Time All-American at 2017 NCAA Championships
BRADENTON, Fla.(Track and Field) -
Kaina Martinez walked away from the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as a three-time All-American on Saturday, May 27 at IMG Academy.
The Javelina women ended the meet with a total of 16 points thanks to a group performance in the 4x100-meter relay and a pair of top finishes from Martinez in the women's 100-meter and 200-meter dash.
Martinez was responsible for the remaining ten points as she timed out in the 100-meter dash at 11.58 seconds for second place and ran the 200-meter dash in 24.10 seconds to place third.
On the men's side,
Christian Garcia tossed the shot put 54' 10.25" (16.72m) for 13th place and
Vitaly Zhgun finished 16th in the javelin throw after recording a 198' 4" (60.47m) mark.

HelpAge Belize honors
Mrs. Maud Williams, nee Goldson, JP, MBE
 Mrs. Maud Williams, nee Goldson was born on October 26, 1929 in Belize City. She has been a devoted wife for the past 61 years to Rudolph Sylvester Williams. The union produced a family of eleven children, four of which are adopted. She received her primary and secondary education in Belize City and her teacher training education both in Belize and the United Kingdom.
Mrs. Williams is an Education Titan and has a long illustrious and well celebrated career that spans over fifty years. She has taught numerous Belizeans and has provided oversight for continuous improvement in the delivery of quality education programs in the Anglican Schools of Belize.
Deeply spiritual, she is ever present at the All Saint's Parish Church. Mrs. Williams believes in the philosophy that religion facilitates love, compassion, patience, humility and forgiveness. These moral virtues have helped to drive her through her entire life and career.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to Belize's development over the past five decades the following awards and citations have been bestowed on Ms. Maud Williams:
- In 1946 Ms. Maud commenced her career as a teacher and from 1953 to 1973 she served in varied education job positions of teacher, vice principal and principal at numerous Anglican Primary Schools throughout the length and breadth of this country Belize.
- In 1975, she functioned as the Vice Principal of Queen's Square Anglican Primary School in Belize City and from 1978 and until her retirement in 1985 she served as the school's Principal.
- In 1985, she was appointed as a Justice of the Peace.
- In 1997, she was awarded the decoration of Member of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II.
- As a founding member of the Belize Women for Cultural Preservation which has now evolved into the CJAMM Mas Band, she began the formation of the Carnival celebration in Belize.
- From 1988 to 2000, she serves as General Manager of Anglican Schools and helped form other teachers.
- In 2009 she was given the great honor of having a High School renamed in her honor, the Maud Williams High School.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DEVELOPS VOTING SOFTWARE
Belize High School held its student body council elections. Most high schools conduct these types of elections yearly, however; BHS introduced an easier and more effective way to do it. With the help of teachers, fourth form student Nathan Gayot development a voting software used today for the school's election. He began working on the program from scratch months ago and he has impressed his teachers Godfrey Sosa and Marcelli Young from the IT Department. From the results obtained through the program, statistics can be extracted including which demographic voted for a particular candidate.

INGREDIENTS
- Papaya cubes 2 lb
- Orange juice 2 cups
- Passion fruit juice ½ cup
- Sugar to taste
- Gelatine 3 table spoons
- Yogurt 2 pints
- Cream cheese 1 lbs
- Whipped topping 1 envelope
PREPARATION
Blend the papaya with the juices and sugar
Bring to boiling point
Add the gelatine
Cool down
Whip the cream cheese till soft
Add the yogurt
Add the whipped topping
Fold in the fruit liquid
Place in a bowl in the freezer
