Construction Quarterly Newsletter

Summer 2024

It is summer in Princeton and as temperatures rise, so too does the work on campus. Summer projects are underway and progress continues on capital projects.

In this issue you will get an overview of work on campus this summerupdates on construction, ways to stay informed about changes, and how to get around campus. We also feature some of our sustainability efforts.

This season of historic growth on campus is integral to executing the strategic priorities of the University. Now that we're in a major ribbon-cutting period for the construction projects on campus, the campus community will see new buildings and amenities come online every few months. It is an exciting time for Princeton Builds!

SUMMER PROJECTS

Each year, following reunions and commencement, Facilities embarks on a collection of summer projects. While our campus is never empty, summer provides us an opportunity to perform major maintenance projects, building renovations and infrastructure work with less impact to our community.

The projects listed here will involve some level of impact to campus (noise, dust, pedestrian and road closures). Other projects are happening on campus as well, yet are smaller and will have limited to no campus impact. Major construction projects continue all year.

If you have questions related to construction on campus, please reach out to the Facilities Service Center, 609-258-8023.

HISTORIC GROWTH ON CAMPUS

COMPLETED PROJECTS

THE MEADOWS NEIGHBORHOOD

Elements of the Meadows Neighborhood that were completed this spring are now coming alive.

Graduates and post-docs are moving into the Meadows Apartments and taking advantage of the various amenities available. Full occupancy is expected by the fall.

Residents and visitors to the neighborhood are connected through shared pedestrian, vehicle, and bike access across the Washington Road Bridge. There is also ample parking and EV charging stations at the new Meadows Parking Garage.

The Central Utility Building (CUB) enables the entire Meadows Neighborhood to run on a district hot water geo-exchange system. The Campus Energy and Engineering team is in the process of taking over operations of the facility.
