Construction Progressing on McKinley Street

Crews continue to progress with the construction of retaining walls along the project corridor and with new road construction activity along southbound McKinley Street. McKinley Street remains open for one lane in both north and southbound directions from State Route 91 to Magnolia Avenue.

The eastbound 91 off-ramp onto McKinley Street remains open to one lane and maintains access for left and right turns onto McKinley Street.

New road construction activity takes shape along Southbound McKinley.

ADVISORY: Clearance Warnings on McKinley Street

Falsework has been removed along the project corridor. Vertical clearance warning signs have been placed at each bridge abutment structure.

Large delivery vehicles, semi-trucks and trailers are urged to avoid McKinley Street with between SR-91 and Magnolia Avenue.

Large delivery vehicles, semi-trucks and trailers must use to use alternate detour routes to access businesses in the project area. Additional detour information and live lane closures are available via our interactive map at McKinleyUpdates.com

Advisory: Eastbound SR-91 McKinley Off-Ramp Speed Advisory

Due to peak morning and afternoon commute hours at the eastbound SR-91 off-ramp onto McKinley Street, we recommend motorists traveling on eastbound SR-91 in outside lines to closely monitor speeds when approaching the McKinley Street SR-91 off-ramp. Stay alert and reduce your speed to keep yourself and other motorists safe.

Businesses Remain Open

Points of access to local businesses along McKinley Street have been temporarily altered. However, local businesses remain open.

Your continued patronage of local businesses is appreciated.

Project Overview

The McKinley Street Grade Separation Project is set to change the way you travel through McKinley Street.

City of Corona residents and commuters experience significant traffic congestion daily on McKinley Street. To improve this, a suspension bridge will be built elevating McKinley Street over the BNSF railroad tracks and Arlington Channel. Construction will extend from State Route 91 on the north side to Magnolia Avenue on the south side.

Once complete, the project will relieve traffic congestion, improve mobility and safety for both motorists and pedestrians, as well as improve emergency response times, air quality and noise. Expected project completion is fall 2024.

Neighboring Projects

71/91 Interchange Project: The 71/91 Interchange serves as a gateway between Riverside, Orange and San Bernardino Counties and is a vital link for commuters and freight vehicles that travel along the 91 and the 71. The new non-tolled interchange is designed to improve safety, expand access to other modes of travel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance traffic flow.
