Begins Sunday, September 8
A 7-week course designed for couples of all ages to help build, strengthen, and continue to grow their relationship in marriage. Couples will be equipped with tools to build a healthy marriage and to strengthen their connection as a couple – or to restore that connection if it was lost.
There is no cost for attending this course - although each couple is responsible for buying their study journals (1 for each person - purchase here). The Alpha Marriage Course Intro Video.

During the summer months, we will continue to have coffee and tea available each Sunday, as well as cool refreshments. This is a more relaxed time of year and any time that you can donate to this ministry it is certainly appreciated! This is a very rewarding ministry and not at all difficult. We’re happy to train you! See our SignUpGenius or contact Cindy Betancourt in the church office.

Flower basket waterers needed
Do you have a green thumb? Do you enjoy the outdoors? We invite you to volunteer at DUMC!
We are in need of more volunteers to help water the flower baskets and urns around the church. We use SignUpGenius to organize the schedule as the flowers need to be watered every day. Each volunteer can pick the dates that work best for them between mid-May and mid-September. If you are interested, sign up here or contact Sheri Shifman. Thank you!

Volunteers Needed
Would you like to become more involved at DUMC? There are many volunteer opportunities that can take as little as one hour, once a month, once a week, or as needed. All slots are flexible and come with training.
Please check out the new Volunteer Board in our lobby next to the information desk. You can choose from a wide variety of options that include ushering, cooking, help in the office, working with Sunday School (ages 4-12), Youth (Grades 7-12), odd jobs around the building, and many more. Take a card from the clothesline and contact the person on the back for more information.
Not sure what you want to do? Pick up the handout on the table and peruse all the offerings.
Serving God deepens our faith and helps us meet others. Do you have an idea for a job? Please contact Laurie Lewis.
God has strategically placed us where he wants us to be in order to accomplish great things. He has important work for us to do: in the church, in neighborhoods, in business, in government, and especially in homes. So together, let’s get our hands on the work.
"Many hands make light work"
Blessings,
Laurie Lewis

Lay Leader Insights:
WISDOM
The book of Proverbs tells us to practice wisdom. The source of that wisdom is God. Jeremiah 29 says we will find God when we seek him with all our heart. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault." Scripture mentions wisdom over 200 times. Repetition reminds us that God is trying to impress upon us an important lesson.
So, a decision needs to be made in life. We have good mentors and friends to whom we go when we need advice. We diligently seek out our options. Weighing the alternatives we make a decision, but a step is missing. We tend to go to everyone but God.

June Mission of the Month:
Immigrant Rights Action
| | |
Think of how frightened someone must be to leave their home. They pack a few belongings for the arduous trip, often with children in tow hoping a relative will take them in. A long journey begins from Afghanistan, Ukraine, or Central/South America, often involving many stops in unfamiliar areas.
These are the exiles of today like we have been discussing in our Bible study. People forced from their homes by war, famine, unstable governments, and the desire for a better life. We are called by Jesus to help the stranger, and give aid to those in need without judgment, just as he did. This is not a border issue nor a political stance. This is about helping those in need.
