DUMC "Sponsor a Space" Campaign Thank you!
A BIG Thank You from the Trustees! We wish to thank the generosity of our members over the last two months, who have helped raise $15,000 for the repaving and resurfacing of the parking lot during the Sponsor a Space Fundraiser.
The Trustees will use $14,000.00 from Endowment Funds to complete the project for a total of $29,000 to cover the repairs to the parking lot. Please note, that this cost is substantially lower than originally expected due to the diligence of our staff and committee members in securing and negotiating the contract.
The parking lot will be completed by Tuesday, July 30. We look forward to having a new and smooth parking lot with visible lines.
Thanks again from all the Trustees to all of those who contributed,
Kate Sheaffer

Pocono Plateau 2024
This year's trip to Pocono Plateau for the camps, Into the Wild and Into the Wild: Above & Beyond, was an amazing event. 32 children and 7 adult volunteers attended the week-long overnight camp, many of which were returning campers, but also included several new campers. They participated in a wide variety of activities, such as rock-wall climbing, boating, nature studies, a foam party, cooking lunches over an open fire, crafts, and most importantly, time spent learning about how God's love changes everything for us. A huge thank you to our adult counselors: Maria Rupp, Erin Bowman, Brian Bowman, Lenae Baldwin, and to Pastor Sunil for joining them on their adventure. If you would like more information about Pocono Plateau camps for your child, scholarships, or would like to find out how to volunteer, please reach out to Maria Rupp at (301) 653-2199.

The Peach Festival is coming Saturday, August 24. A pancake breakfast will be held on Sunday, July 28 (a great time to bring your used books and flea market items). Please start gathering up your donations now so you can drop them off at the church on 7/28 or sometime during the following week (summer hours are 9 am -1 pm, please call to confirm if you need to drop off outside of these hours).
Books along with CDs, DVDs, and records can be dropped off outside of the music room. Flea market donations can be dropped off on the table in Overholt hall. Please be sure all items are ready for resale and that all electronics have been tested. If you have any questions about items you would like to donate to the flea market, please ask! Email Melissa O’Brien with any questions or concerns. Flea market and book sales will begin Sunday, August 4. Please help spread the word by inviting friends and family to shop or donate!
In addition to books and flea market items, please consider plants and silent auction items. We brought back the plant sale last year with hopes of making it even more successful this year. We ask if you could start saving cuttings and bulbs to be dropped off on 8/24. Ideas for the silent auction are: your excess frequent flier miles, a weekend at your vacation home, or nice photos & art items. If you have something you think is too nice for the flea market, consider donating it to the silent auction.

Need Some Air Conditioning?
Friends,
We want to remind you that our church is open Monday - Friday and is air conditioned. We are aware that there are some without A/C. During this extreme heat and humidity, please feel free to come use the church. Bring a book, cards, lunch, whatever you need to find respite. *Please call ahead to confirm staff is on-site since we are operating on summer hours.
We also have a borrowing library that you are welcome to use in Room 14/15. Rooms 2 and 22 are available on alternating days. The Parlor is open all day. For those at home, stay hydrated, use fans, keep out of the sun, and remember the true Son who loves you! If you have any questions, please call the church at (215) 348-5224.

Lay Leader Insights:
CURRENTS OF LIFE
I was recently on vacation down the shore and enjoyed watching the waves and people playing in the water. There were surfers, swimmers, and kids playing games. As time went on, I noticed they were moving closer toward a jetty, a rock jetty. They were very much enjoying themselves, but the current in the ocean was pulling them in one direction without them being aware.
The world will often pull us in different directions, some of them OK and some not OK. Much like those cliques in high school, we like to follow along with the crowd, watch popular movies, listen to current songs, and go along the mainstream. It's more comfortable.

2024 Youth Mission Trip Recap | |
Hello!
We had an awesome time on our mission trip to Niagara Falls a few weeks ago! Fifteen students and four adults spent the week in Niagara, serving people through local organizations. Our groups served at Salvation Army, Center City, Niagara Gospel Mission, Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, delivered meals to those who could not afford food, and did yard work for a lovely elderly couple who could no longer prepare their outdoor space for the summer themselves. Through these various organizations, students had the opportunity to pray with people, provide meals for people, and participate in bible studies with the various organizations. They were also able to provide safety for people through yard upkeep. While in Niagara, we also had the opportunity to build memories together by visiting the falls! While at the falls, we got to do the Cave of the Winds tour and had the chance to watch fireworks! None of us will ever forget these memories, whether visiting the falls or serving others! I am sure we all have many moments that have impacted our youth group community moving forward positively! We are so thankful for everyone's financial and prayerful support as we went on our first mission trip since COVID.
