Historical Tidbit:
On the corner of Torrey Street and West Street stood Kings Department store.
Michelle Bessette remembers: "My dad managed the camera dept in the 60s. I recall sitting at the lunch counter ordering the weird pizza. Also met Rex Trailer, Bozo and Elvis’ Cadillac there 😂 And remember the room with the bins of small toys? If we were good that was our reward. "

Metro South Chamber Awards

The Metro South Chamber Small Business and Entrepreneur of the Year Awards recognize the contributions that small businesses and entrepreneurs have made in creating new jobs and economic growth.

This year's Entrepreneur of the Year is Derek Jesus of Grand Flourish Tattoos, a tattoo parlor that brings art and quality customer service to their store. It boasts a TV, drinks, snacks, and medical items such as numbing creams to help their customers' skin heal. They even recently designed a mural on the new parking garage at Petronelli Way.
This year's Small Business of the Year is Mi Nina, a tortilla bakery and the first in New England. Jamie Mammano is a Boston chef and the founder of Mi Nina. He describes the process of making authentic Mexican tortillas on a mass scale as the most difficult challenge of his career, but Mi Nina has already created 20 new jobs.

Connection is Why We are Here:

There are some people, who carry just so-o-o much wisdom. I search out Brené all the time because I struggle so in relationships. So I share her now, in case her words can help any of you, dear readers.

“You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging.” ~ Brené Brown

“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” ~ Brené Brown

“Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.” ~ Brené Brown

“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren't always comfortable, but they're never weakness.” ~ Brené Brown
Have a great week of connection. ~ Jacquie
