News You Can Use

Dear Friends,

Our SUMMER SCHEDULE BEGINS THIS WEEK for Memorial Day Weekend and Trinity Sunday on May 26. We worship in-person at 9:30am, and will continue to offer Morning Prayer by Zoom at 8am. We'll beat the summer heat by worshiping at 9:30am through Sunday, August 11.

Summer is often a time for travel, renewal and rest. I'll spend a couple of weeks supporting the wider church in my role on the staff of The General Convention. That time isn't rest and relaxation, but it is a change of pace. My responsibilities there are in support of the Worship of The General Convention, which means that the details of providing Holy Communion at a large scale in a convention center my focus. I also support colleagues in other areas of Convention. During July, we'll have some after-church conversations about The General Convention, and what it is, what it does, and what happens in 2024.

At the end of summer, in late August, our Front Range Region will celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation (and Reception and Renewal). It's a time to make a commitment to the worship and community of the Episcopal Church, or a renewed commitment to following Jesus and the way of love in the world. Confirmation was once a thing that happened to kids when they turned 12--it's different now, though young people are still confirmed after spending time in preparation and study.

I'm curious about you--would you like to make a renewed commitment? Let's talk about what that means and how to explore how God is working in your life, no matter what age you are. Are you hungry to go more deeply into the story of Holy Scripture and how it is part of our lives? Do you want to connect with others who are seeking to follow Jesus fully, bravely, joyfully? Let me know (just reply to this email), and watch for more information. It would be thrilling if we could bring a group of folks for Confirmation+ at the end of August!

With so much gratitude,

M. Mary Kate Rejouis+

Community Partnerships at St. Aidan's...Please Mind the Cones this Summer

One of the many things that we are proud of as a church is the way in which we get to join others in the community in doing good works. As nicer weather quickly approaches, so does the utilization of our great outdoor space to this end. Let us show love and care for our community partners is by honoring the space that they have set aside for their programs inside and out, especially our primary summer partner, www.pedalingminds.org. If an area of the grounds is coned off, please do not move cones or park there. Thanks in advance for joining us in this and showing our love and care for our neighbors!

Episcopal Worship at Boulder Reservoir on Sunday, July 7 at 9:30am

For the second year, St. Aidan's is hosting an outdoor worship service at Boulder Reservoir on Sunday, July 7. Several other congregations will join us at the grassy picnic area. We need some volunteers to help with set-up. Please email if you are able to move things (and maybe have a truck) for that Sunday morning at 7:30am.

Volunteer to Prepare Food.

Did you know that Food Not Bombs prepares food every Saturday at 11am at St. Aidan's to be delivered to unhoused persons in downtown Boulder? If you'd like to volunteer to help, you can show up on a Saturday or email here for more information.

Wednesday Mornings 7am Hybrid Holy Eucharist and Bible Study

Please join us on Wednesday mornings in the Chapel or by Zoom for worship that includes study of a chapter of Holy Scripture and Holy Eucharist. This service can be a great way to be in church every week, especially if other things take you away over the weekends. We are studying and reflecting our way through Genesis. Eucharist finishes by 8am, and those who can, are invited to stay for bagels and coffee.

Online Directory in Realm--let's use it!

St. Aidan's has been using Realm as our membership and donation management software for a while. It is a useful tool for us to stay connected as a congregation. The first step is for each person to get connected with your Realm account and opt in to the directory.

Did you know that if every person/household that calls St. Aidan's home were to use their Realm account, and upload a photo, creating a safe, secure photo directory would be really simple? We need you to do your part!

If you need to call or reach out to someone from church by email or phone, but you don't have a directory (we haven't printed updates for a while), this is how you can find that information in a safe, secure format. You can also choose your level of privacy with your information.

First, you need to have a login and credentials (your email and a password you choose).

  • If you give, or have given online, you have a login already.
  • If you can't find yours, or don't have a login, you'll need to ask for an invitation to be sent to your email. You do that by sending an email to Kelly Champion, our Realm Manager at realm@saintaidans.org.

To ensure you're included in the directory, please take a moment to opt in by following these simple steps:

  • Log in to Realm using your credentials.
  • Click on your profile picture in the screen's top right corner.
  • Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
  • Choose who you would like to see your contact information:
  • Select "Anyone in the church" to be added to the church directory.
  • Alternatively, if you prefer, you can only have leaders see your information for added privacy.

By using Realm this way, you are supporting a connected church community. You can also download a Realm app to your smartphone, and have the church directory at your fingertips that way!

Thank you for being part of St. Aidan's!

Around the Diocese

Exploring Your Vocation June 1 hosted right here at St. Aidan's

Discernment is at the heart of our baptismal call. Every baptized person is called to be a minister of the Body of Christ. For some, that call is manifest in pursuing ordained ministry or a call to religious life.

As the Episcopal Church in Colorado examines what a life of discernment looks like, we are shifting from the Road to Ministry program to Exploring Your Vocation Discernment Days. These are planned gatherings where members of various orders, the Diaconate, the Priesthood, and the Vowed Religious Life, will lead conversations about their ministry.

  • Saturday, June 1, 2024 – St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 2425 Colorado Ave., Boulder, CO 80302

The Spiritual Practice of Discernment

Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.~Howard Thurman

As baptized Christians, we promise to live a life committed in word and action to following the path of Jesus. To know what this means for our individual and communal lives, we use the ancient practice of discernment, which serves us as a lifelong practice as we seek to walk faithfully with God. Discernment is the way of listening, considering, and choosing the path that God has for each of us. It is a spiritual practice, rooted in prayer and attentive to the movement of the Holy Spirit in our life. This practice is decidedly individual while at the same time in our Episcopal tradition, profoundly communal. New on the diocesan website is information about discerning for lay ministries, ordained ministries, and vowed religious life. Discover how the ancient practice of discernment can help you live out your faith in deep and life-giving ways.

Eucharistic Visitor Training (Hybrid, Online)

June 3-29. Eucharistic Visitors (EVs) serve parishioners who are unable, due to illness or infirmity, to be present at the Celebration of the Eucharist. During visits, EVs share the consecrated elements and bring the love, hope, and prayers of the church community. Eucharistic Visitor training provided by the Office of the Bishop equips people to carry out this sacred ministry and gives new and existing Eucharistic Visitors the opportunity to connect and learn from one another. Our June training session begins with an orientation via Zoom on Monday, June 3, and concludes with a mandatory wrap-up session via Zoom on Saturday, June 29. All course materials are online and self-paced. Find more information or register HERE. If you're interested in becoming a Eucharistic Visitor, please also contact Fr. Steve Wengrovius

Cathedral Ridge Summer Camps

Youth and Family camps are a wonderful opportunity to connect with God and experience Christian community in a non-church setting. Each week is designed for a different age group and with a different approach – but all intend to build faith in a fun and safe environment.
