According to Vaughan, she started training with them about six years ago. "When I first started with them, I had a TB/Connemara mix. We struggled a lot and I had outgrown him, so we sold him, and we found Joki at Tryon about 2 years ago. He has taken me from the .85m to the 1.30m and I'm so lucky to have found him."

"It was completely unexpected for me to win all of these awards this week," she said. "I'm so happy and really excited about our next show," she added.

Vaughan started showing at the Virginia Horse Center when she was around ten or twelve years old. She commented, "I love the Virginia Horse Center because everyone here is so nice, from the office to the jump crew. Everyone congratulates you and overall, it is a nice place to horse show. The new stall mats are great, the footing has gotten much better, and the jumps look really pretty and clean, and they switch them out so you're not always jumping the same ones. There are even bathrooms in the barns, which are also kept very clean. It's a beautiful place here, especially with the surrounding mountains," she said.

Vaughan feels very fortunate and is thankful for the support of her parents, and Derek and Sulu. "I'm very lucky," she said.

Vaughan plans on returning for the Lexington National in August, before she heads to Longwood in the fall as a freshman to study business and follow in her father's footsteps. "We're going to lease Joki out but I told my dad that we can't sell him. He really is my heart horse."

Congratulations!
