Chair - Jessica Dugan, MSW
Coach, Consultant, Motivational Speaker

Jessica Dugan has been actively engaged in improving the health and well-being of others through coordinated awareness activities and research based initiatives, with over 18 years of experience working with diverse populations. Jessica is an engaging presenter and values creating productive relationships with community stakeholders, partners and families.

Jessica received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois, and recently completed her Program Management Certification at Emory. In addition to her involvement with GDC, she is a member of National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys (COPAA) and Toastmasters. After 14 years of working in the educational system and 4 years in the health care system, Jessica founded Bright Impact, LLC to provide care and support for parents, caregivers and helping professionals. She provides individual coaching, workshops and presentations in the community.

As chairperson for the Georgia Diabetes Coalition, she will serve as a spokesperson, chair of the Executive Committee, be one of the official representative for the Coalition and will conduct the Coalition meetings. The Chairperson shall be responsible for scheduling meetings, preparing meeting agendas, reviewing meeting minutes, signing official documents and appointing committee chairs.
Vice Chair - Dr. Sherri Shelton-Johnson, PT, DPT, CCM

Sherri Shelton-Johnson, PT, DPT, CCM is a licensed physical therapist who specializes in treating adults with neurological, orthopedic and musculoskeletal impairments. Dr. Shelton-Johnson earned her BS degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee; her advanced Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Alabama State University in 2009 and the Emory University Diabetes Educator Certificate in 2012.

She is a Certified Case Manager and Health Education Consultant, working with non-profit organizations promoting healthy life-style behaviors to combat the long-term effects of chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease. In addition to community outreach and health screenings, Dr. Shelton-Johnson works with other professionals to advocate for public policies that promote healthy behaviors, physical activity, and disease awareness.

As Vice Chair, she will assume the responsibilities of the Chair in her absence and will succeed the chairperson upon vacancy of that office. The Vice Chair will facilitate strategic planning and coordinate implementation of the plan through the committees. 

Secretary - Dr. Cassandra G. Tancil, PharmD, BCPS

Cassandra G. Tancil, Pharm.D., BCPS, is co-founder and President/CEO of PharmaCare Solutions, Inc. and has practiced as a clinical pharmacist for more than 25 years. Dr. Tancil began her career in a progressive community hospital in Baltimore, MD where she was responsible for overseeing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate use of medications throughout the 362-bed institution.

Dr. Tancil is an active member and past board member of the Georgia Diabetes Coalition and serves on the Human Rights Committee for Open Hearts Personal Care Home.

As secretary, Dr. Tancil will be responsible for recording the business of the Coalition. She will prepare, distribute and maintain minutes, agendas, and other correspondence for the Coalition. The Secretary also notify members of meetings, Coalition activities and keep a current list of members.
Treasurer - Victoria N. Davis , BS, MPH

Victoria Davis MPH serves as Epidemiologist for the Georgia Department of Public Health. She has served as an active member of the outreach committee for several years.

As Treasurer, Victoria keep records of Coalition funds and expenditures and provide financial reports at Coalition meetings. She tracks financial activities of any grants, appropriations, or other funding streams of the Coalition, facilitate the annual review and  oversee the tax form preparation for the Coalition.
Parliamentarian - LaTrenka Riley, BS

LaTrenka serves as President of The Email Specialist and Co-Founder of Atlanta Professional Business Network. She is an active volunteer on the social media and marketing committee.

As Parliamentarian, LaTrenka will assist the Chair in the interpretation of the Constitution and Bylaws of the Georgia Diabetes Coalition. She will advise the Coalition of parliamentary procedures according to the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised. She will serve as the Chair of the Bylaws Committee and will be responsible for developing and updating the Coalition's Policy and Procedures Manual. 
Member at Large - 1 
Rajitha Bommakanti, RN

Rajitha has been practicing nursing for over 27 years in various medical specialties. Rajitha started her career at UNC Chapel Hill, NC, where she worked with medical surgical patients, heart and lung transplant patients, critical care, and dialysis patients. In addition, Rajitha worked as a hospital nursing administrator, outpatient dialysis administrator, utilization review analyst, and ER case manager. She moved to Atlanta in 2010, worked as dialysis clinic administrator for few years and in 2013 started working for Emory Healthcare center as case manager.

In her nursing journey, Rajitha has seen gaps in patient care, well-being, and barriers to care. She also wanted to make a difference in the community, as well as educate and empower people. This led her to opening her business, Healthy You Lifestyle Center.
 
As Member at Large, Rajitha will serve and represent the general membership on issues of interest or concern, particularly those that arise outside of the standing committee structure. Rajitha will listen to members and communicate their issues, needs and interests to the Board of Directors.

Sharon Stovall, RN

With more than twenty years in the healthcare industry, Sharon works at Amerigroup. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to the collaboration and management of members who have asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure.

As Member at Large, Sharon will serve and represent the general membership on issues of interest or concern, particularly those that arise outside of the standing committee structure. Sharon will listen to members and communicate their issues, needs and interests to the Board of Directors.
Immediate Past Chair - Julie M. Dinkins, MBA

Julie Dinkins works with Novo Nordisk. She is a highly skilled and award-winning Account Executive with over 15+ years of experience accelerating revenues and profits by capitalizing on effective marketing strategies and sales initiatives.

Julie has been an active volunteer with the Coalition for several years. As a professional, she has expertise in establishing and retaining accounts within highly competitive specialty pharmaceutical market. She has a proven ability in driving sales growth, meeting and exceeding quotas and increasing market access opportunities.

As the Immediate Past-Chair, Julie will serve as Chair of the Nominating and Membership Committee. She will also assume the responsibilities of Chair in the absence of the Chair and Vice Chair..
