Good afternoon,

I recently had a conversation with Colin—a new franchisee who opened this past Saturday in Reno, NV—and he shared that he had some success with his pre-marketing flyering efforts. I wanted to share this with all of you, so I asked him to type up his experience from start to finish. See below.

My name is Colin and I just opened a Nutrishop location here in Reno, NV this past Saturday. Per the advice of corporate staff, my initial pre-marketing strategy was to get as many flyers distributed as possible.

I made sure to place flyers in every gym, coffee shop, and pretty much any place that has a waiting area or lobby.

I learned that places like Costco, Sam's Club, and WinCo were great places to flyer on the weekends as I could place thousands of flyers on cars in just a couple of hours. I probably distributed more than 30,000 flyers in the last 30 days. In hindsight, putting them on cars was the most effective because the potential customer has to touch the flyer, even if they’re going to throw it away.

Even before we opened, I started to notice an increase in online purchases every time I distributed flyers.

However, the biggest surprise came on opening day when many people came in with the flyer in hand. I expected our first day to be mostly friends and family, but it was the opposite. I asked each customer where they got the flyer from and over half of them said "on my car”

I admit that I was a little skeptical while passing out the flyers, but it lead us to making a little over $1,500 on our first day of business and just under $1,000 on Sunday (when everyone seems to be watching football). This has taught me to be a little more patient and to trust the process.

Here’s the flyer I’ve been using:
