Concord's Historic Celebration: A Call to Scouts for the Patriot's Day Parade

Deadline for sign up is 9:00 PM March 14, 2024

We cordially invite your unit to apply to participate in the Town of Concord’s 2024 Patriots Day Parade, marking the 249th anniversary of the Concord Fight and the beginning of the American Revolution.

This year is especially significant as Concord prepares for 2025 and the ensuing 250th anniversary of those historic events. Scouting's participation in the 2024 and 2025 parades will be organized and directed by the The Concord Scout House which will liaise with the Concord250 Parade Committee.

Join us in a momentous occasion as Concord prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of "the shot heard 'round the world" at the Old North Bridge. Scout Participation: We're thrilled to extend an invitation for up to 100 scouts to march in this year's parade. What We Need: We're seeking enthusiastic participation from each unit, with a minimum requirement of a color guard comprising at least a troop flag bearer and a US flag bearer. Units may include additional flags, banners and band members for a more vibrant display. Parade Route and Logistics:

This year, the Town’s parade will be held on Patriots Day, Monday, April 15, 2024, with step-off at 9:00 AM. Participants are to muster between 8:15 - 8:30 AM at the Concord Armory (91 Everett Street). The parade route will cover a distance of 3.5 miles and follow a route through Concord Center, proceeding to the Old North Bridge for a brief ceremony commemorating the events and soldiers of April 19, 1775. The parade will then return to the Concord Armory, where a free lunch is offered. The entire event will last approximately three hours.

Given the length, carefully consider the participation of younger members like Cub Scouts.   Looking Ahead to 2025: Units participating in this year's parade will receive priority for participation in the "Revolution 250" parade in 2025. This is a unique opportunity to secure a spot for your unit in next year's historic event. Your involvement this year significantly enhances your chances for a larger presence in 2025. Let's come together to make this year's Patriot's Day parade a memorable precursor to next year's historic celebration!
