2018 DR Vacation Bible School Booklets Available in Spanish and English
The Christian Education Committee of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic has created a Vacation Bible School booklet for use in the summer of 2018 with older children who can read. The original Spanish version is available here, and the English translation is available here. The booklet emphasizes the theme of the Fifth Mark of Mission: To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth.
Another version of the booklet for younger children who cannot read will be available soon. Copies of these booklets can be printed in the Dominican Republic and delivered to a mission team for US$1 each. 20 Mission Teams in June and July!

As of the date of this newsletter, 20 mission teams from the United States will be working in the Diocese of the Dominican Republic in the months of June and July. The mission team support office in Santo Domingo, led by Missionary Karen Carroll, maintains a spreadsheet showing all of the teams and their work locations, and the DDG publishes the latest version every Monday as a feature on its Facebook page. First and foremost was the reception we received at Colegio Jesús Nazareno in San Francisco de Macorís. Attendance ranked highest of our four sites this trip - over 50 teachers and administrators made the sometimes strenuous trip across the northern part of the country to be there. Second, our group was "cooking with gas" (as my Uncle Danny Kelley used to say); we were playing off of each other and referencing each other's presentations extremely well. Likely our finest hour as a team. Third, the hospitality shown by every one of our workshop hosts was marvelous; somehow, at Colegio Jesus Nazareno, it was even "marvelouser." Presidenta Melvina and I often see hospitality in terms of food (we are the team that travels on its stomach, clearly); given that CJN offered breakfast on top of a terrific lunch, their efforts earned an A++!
